Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the friendly, quick table service and the food that arrives fresh and hot, with the Sunday roast beef singled out as excellent and a pie and prawn cocktail called tasty at a Friday quiz night. Several mention generous portions, discounts and a family-friendly setup, with a play park, colouring and a kids corner, and one group of 18 said nobody felt rushed. Sports fans point to football on multiple screens, and others mention a quiz night and a darts board and pool table. The criticism is sharper but less common. One diner said a mixed grill steak ordered medium-well arrived extremely rare and a chicken curry tasted microwaved, and also described being unwell afterwards while acknowledging the cause was uncertain. That reviewer also found a staff reply about where the sauces were abrupt. Another found the food ordinary for the price, and broken fryers meant no fish and chips on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime. One reviewer's chef came out to confirm dietary requirements for the family.

“Visited while on holiday ... a decent enough boozer, especially if you're a sports fan (Unfortunately I'm not) with Sky Sports showing on all TVs, a dart board & large pool table. As the fryers were broken, we couldn't have fish & chips, which is what we initially wanted so opted for something else from their extensive & appealing menu. Bit of a wait for the food, our fault as we arrived before the kitchen had opened. The food for the price wasn't all that great, to be honest & there was a lot of leftovers. The lady who served us was lovely, warm & friendly and it's a good size, clean establishment with a lovely seating area outside & wheelchair friendly access throughout. The pub has a quiz night & a 3 pints for a tenner night. I should imagine on a busy weekend, it's a good night out but it was a Tuesday lunch time when we visited so it was very quiet. Would I go again? Yes ... on a weekend night. Would I eat there again? Yes ... when the fryer is fixed & I can try their (recommended by a friend) fish & chips.”

“Honestly, someone recommended this place to me while I was on holiday in Morecambe, and it turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes of my trip. On the first day of my holiday, I ordered the mixed grill, and it was honestly one of the worst meals I’ve ever been served. I asked for my steak to be medium-well, but it arrived extremely rare. After one bite, I realised it wasn’t cooked as requested, so I stopped eating it—but unfortunately, it was too late. Later that night, I became very unwell with what appeared to be food poisoning, and I’ve now spent four days of my holiday ill. While I can’t say for certain where it came from, this was the only meal I ate that was different from the rest of my family, none of whom became ill. My wife ordered the chicken curry, which tasted as though it had been microwaved and was barely edible. She hardly touched it. To make matters worse, the service wasn’t great either. When I politely asked where the sauces were, the staff member abruptly replied, “In that cupboard if you look,” and then appeared to laugh about the situation with another customer, which I found very unprofessional. It’s a real shame because the restaurant itself looked nice, but the quality of the food and the service fell well below expectations, especially for the prices being charged. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience because my holiday has been badly affected. I hope the management improves the food quality and customer service so others don’t have the same experience I did. I certainly wouldn’t recommend the mixed grill.”

“Food was absolutely fantastic definitely worth the price you pay, and on top of the great food our server “ness” was fantastic and couldn’t have done more to help. Definitely recommend a visit very welcoming pub with great food and great atmosphere especially for sports as they play football games on multiple screens”

“brilliant service for our group of 18. kids all loved it and great for the adults to relax knowing the kids where happy in the playpark. food was all fresh and hot. service was perfect and no-one had to wait. given the chance to rest between our main and dessert was lovely too. We where there 2 hours and never felt rushed or in the way. we stayed across the road at the caravan park so could walk there and back with no issues.”

“At the heart of the seaside resort of Morecambe, you’ll find The Hurley Flyer, named after the Morecambe Bay RNLI hovercraft (and not one of our waiting staff, although they can be pretty fast). Ours is a friendly, welcoming pub offering great value for money. All of our main meals have something for everyone, so eating here is one treat you’ll really enjoy. It’s the perfect place to socialise and relax with family or friends, served by staff who are remarkably pleasant and quietly efficient. We look forward to seeing you soon. Plus, you can now order at Amazon and pick up here!”
