  “We went for a last minute Sunday carvery after working at an event, and it was lush. 4 different meats to choose from, as well as sausage, stuffing, huge yorkshires, Crispy fluffy roasties, mash, amazing cauliflower cheese and fresh veg. Honestly was 10/10. I would eat this everyday if I could. Team very friendly and chatty. Pub nice and clean. I will be returning x”

  “Stop here on my way to from my holiday to hopton-on-sea and wow what an excellent meal staff was great and the food best gammon steak I've had in a long time and the scampi was great too would definitely come again when around that area again”

  “4 of us visited today for my dad's birthday. We didn't have a table booked but at 3 o'clock we expected it to be ok. They told us we could have a table for 1 hour till 4pm as they had another booking and could only have the table if we finish by then, even though there was a few table visibly empty. They stop serving at 4.15 so thought it was a bit strange. Told to go up for food straight away which with the time restraint they requested was sort of understandable? This is where it started to go wrong! First offered 5 options of meat. Non of these had separate carving utensils and cross contamination of meats was unavoidable. We were offered a sausage and stuffing ball but could have one that fell in the drippings of all 5 meats which we refused and the next five peiple were iffed the same. This is not encouraging. We filled our plates and continued the meal which was uneventfull. Well un tasteful. The meat was tasteless. The sausage cheap processed like you get from Iceland. The mash dry, gravy so lumpy that when they poured another bucket of gravy in the empty bowl it had to be shaken out of the jug . The veg and roasties were nice but the yorkshires were dry as a sheet of cardboard and tasted similar. Whilst this was edible it was far short of a nice roast and needed a lot of seasoning to be edible. Now it had got to 4 o'clock and quite a few tables were empty and it was obvious we weren't going to need to leave. Why make us rush our meal and feel pressured. This has been echoed by other comments. The staff are very poorly trained. Trying to take drinks orders before we had sat down. The food service was very poor and definately not food safe. Watching the food come out and dumped in to bowls then picking out any bad bits with the same utensils once again cross contaminating food from unclean surfaces. Was it worth the money? No not really. We eat at another carvery and that is better and considerably cheaper with great staff, friendly service and a nice atmosphere.”

  “We came back for our 1st anniversary meal and decided on the Sunday roast. Absolutely amazing. The meat was beautiful cooked then pick from loads of vegetables, roast tatties and huge yorkshire puddings. The gravy is the best I've ever had. For pudding I had almond and apple tart. Even the pastry was a perfect almond pastry. Amazing attention to detail. My husband had baked cheesecake and he said "it was bloody lovely". The whole meal was. Brilliant friendly staff. If you haven't been, go, but remember to book or miss out.”

  “Food was delicious. Although I did get the very end of the lamb which was quite fatty. The service let it down as hadn’t even sat down before being asked what we want to drink. Some of the staff seemed to have an attitude. They need to know what drinks they sell when asked by customers.”

  “My partner and I went to The Foldgate Inn on recommendation and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised, as there have been some bad experiences at other venues. The carvery, I my humble opinion was second to none. An excellent selection of meats and accompanying vegetables and extras. So good to see crackling being offered. I would and do thoroughly recommend The Foldgate Inn you will not be disappointed.”

  “I drive pass here on the way to visit family, never been able to get a table as they are very busy. I found out why yesterday, best Sunday lunch I've had in a while, definitely going back.”

  “The outside of the pub looks like it could do with a lick of paint but inside is a warm welcome and superb food. The Sunday roast was delicious. Meat was glorious and tender. Nice atmosphere.”

  “Lovely quaint pub, inside it is beautifully set out with a beamed ceiling, plenty of seating, friendly and helpful staff, food was absolutely delicious and all home made would highly recommend”
