About Jolly Sailors Brancaster Staithe
Jolly Sailors Brancaster Staithe is an 18th-century pub in Kings Lynn on Main Road, owned by the Brancaster Brewery, whose real ales are served alongside other beers on tap. The bar also stocks the largest selection of rum on the coast, which backs rum cocktails such as a Dark & Stormy. In the kitchen, smokehouse pulled pork goes into a burger and onto a pizza, and the pizza list includes gluten free bases. Local mussels and cod cheeks come as starters. A tap room has a pool table, and football is shown on screen for match days. Dogs are welcome, so walkers can bring them along. Ice cream is sold from a beach hut.

Customer Review Summary
The smokehouse pulled pork is the dish reviewers praise most, both in a burger with two patties and on a pizza, and one diner says it avoids the heaviness found elsewhere. Close behind are the local mussels shared as a starter, the cod cheeks and hickory smoked prawns, with pizza described as skilfully cooked and generously topped. A Dark and Stormy rum cocktail, creamy pints and a Chilean sauvignon blanc also earn mentions. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and reviewers note plenty of seating across the older rooms, a garden, a lean-to and a tap room where locals play pool. Dogs are welcome, which several appreciate. The complaints concern kitchen details. One reviewer found the cheese pot starter hard with no cheese pull and the peas cooked to a pappy texture. Another found a child's cucumber and carrot sticks dry and the burger short on kick. One reviewer suggests a table in the older part of the pub for atmosphere. Two reviewers stopped in for lunch after a long walk by the sea, one on a third visit.

“Stopped here for lunch after a long walk. Food, drinks and service was very good. Our 3rd visit in 18 months”

“The jolly Sailors is a traditional pub set within the Norfolk County side. It’s popular for its classic pub feel, cosy vibes and is dog friendly. The menu has a number of classic pub staples along with some more modern dishes. Overall the experience was varied. Staff were very attentive and kind. The food was slightly disappointing however. The cheese pot starter was hard and not offering the “cheese pull” as anticipated. The ham egg and chips however supported a large portion of gammon and crunchy chips. The peas had been cooked slightly too long and had turned slightly pappy. Special mention to the offering of Gluten free pizza bases. Overall I think it’s a nice cost pub offering a good selection of food. Perfect for a quick bite after a long walk by the sea!”

“A great atmosphere, friendly staff, good beer. It has a nice mix of customers which always seem to make it feel lively. An interesting building with a well thought through layout. A great unpretentious place to have a few pints”

“Voted the nation’s favourite family pub, our 18th century village local on the Norfolk coast serves real ales from our microbrewery Brancaster Brewery, home cooked wholesome food, great pub clasics including Jolly Smokehouse specials, local seafood, stone baked pizzas and ice cream from a garden beach hut (and not forgetting the largest selection of rum on the coast!) Families, muddy or sandy boots and muddy paws welcome in our pub which is at the heart of village life in scenic North Norfolk, just across the road from Brancaster Staithe harbour and beach.”
