Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return for the original burger, with several calling it among the best they have had and praising the well-cooked patty and the care put into assembling it. Close behind are the fries, including loaded fries, halloumi fries and funky fries, plus a pulled pork topping with a lightly spiced sauce. The house raspberry lemonade and a local beer also get praise, and one reviewer notes full allergen information and a kitchen check on an off-menu special. Staff are described as friendly, and one table found a birthday card waiting. The recurring complaint is temperature: a few say burgers arrived only warm, halloumi fries turned rubbery, and one couple sent back fries on two visits, where replacements came after the burgers were nearly finished and nothing came off the bill. Some find it expensive, and one called the original a little salty with bland slaw. Another reviewer was told of a short wait by phone, then quoted 45 minutes at the door despite empty tables.

“Rumpus was our go-to for a date night with juicy delicious burgers and the best loaded fries, but unfortunately the last three times we've been, the food has been luke warm. On two visits we've sent back our fries - it felt too wasteful to send back the burgers as well. The staff have been friendly and replaced them, but then we've pretty much finished our burger by the time they're back. No money was knocked off the bill - I know some will think I sound petty, but when meals out are expensive and a treat, I just feel it's important to offer something complimentary if something isn't quite right”

“It was a busy Saturday but staff were completely on top of things, with friendly interaction throughout. Full allergens supplement provided for the menu and thorough reference direct to the kitchen to confirm no gluten in the off-menu special. We were well looked after, had our food arrive quickly, and all enjoyed our meals and drinks. Whole-hearted recommendation.”

“We have travelled more than 30 minutes to this place and have received very poor customer service. We understand that if you do not have a reservation, you need to wait for walk-in tables. But today I called twice to make sure if as we were travelling with our grandad, who is 86 years old we will have a table, he said it was few tables available. When we arrived he said 45 minutes to wait. The guy on the reception who claimed being the manager on that shift was rude and not helpful at all. I will describe he was very proud of himself. I did work on Reception for more than 7 years in big restaurants in London and looking at that floor with 5 tables empty he could give one table for sure, my partner asked the next book in b and he shouted the times of the next bookings happening in 25 min, 30min etc Some Of the tables where there were finishing and others with burgers, with which he could easily handle the bookings. I do understand the business is not his and the fact that customers travel 30 minutes with and old person doesn’t matter in this business. We won’t ever come back again. We were 4.”

“I don't leave reviews very often but this place is amazing. My burger was so good! The patty was cooked to perfection and could tell it was carefully put together instead of just throwing toppings around the place. The local beer is great too and the service was top notch. I have no clue when I'll ever be up this way again, but if I am I'll definitely be coming back here.”

“We both had the original burgers which were good, but a little salty (probably due to the bacon). The slaw was bland and added nothing to the meal. We shared halloumi fries and funky fries, both nice. I like my food hot and unfortunately I found the burger was only warm and the halloumi fries went like rubber. The house raspberry lemonade was delicious. Overall, it was expensive and we won't rush back.”
