About The Waterfront Ipswich
The Waterfront Ipswich is a French-inspired restaurant in Ipswich, set dockside in a modern steel building at 15 Regatta Quay. Upstairs on the first floor, the window tables look out over the marina, so a meal here comes with a view of the harbour. A bar area sits downstairs and serves cocktails alongside a wine selection. The menu includes ribeye and sirloin steaks served with chunky chips, and a brownie with ice cream is among the desserts.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the steak, with one reviewer calling the ribeye cooked medium rare the best they have tasted and another saying their sirloin and rare steak came as asked, alongside excellent chunky chips. Close behind are the dockside setting and harbour views, with reviewers recommending the upstairs tables. Others praise the lamb croquette, scallops, aubergine katsu, fish and chips, and a brownie with ice cream, while a few add that the wine selection is very good and the food tasted fresh. The service draws the sharpest complaints. One hen party reports receiving only one round of cocktails over a long evening while starters and desserts arrived first, and says the manager blamed understaffing and scoffed at the size of their bill. Another table describes waiting at outdoor seating, then going inside to order and repeatedly calling the waiter over. One reviewer found no cocktail menu and no Mojito at the bar. Other groups praise attentive staff who played a song for a friend wearing red during a birthday celebration.

“Nice food, we could tell everything was made fresh. A lovely view if sitting outside.”

“Dissapointed a bar by the water front couldn't serve a very popular cocktail like a Mojito. There wasn't a cocktail menu. We didn't dine on this occasion.”

“Went for a few drinks and some food over the weekend with 2 friends. Food was decent but service outside was poor. We were told to take a seat and after waiting 15 minutes went inside to order our drinks. Same with food, we had to call the waiter over a few times. It became hard to be polite as he seemed more interested in serving his friends than anyone else. Just felt understaffed and disorganised. Unlikely to go back.”

“The location of the restaurant is good. Situated in the waterfront, the 1st floor tables near to the window give a nice view of the marina. It was quiet when I visited, so the atmosphere in the restaurant was limited, although I can imagine that when it is busy, the dining room would be a lively place to eat. The decor is nice, and a good place to eat for couples of larger groups. The food was reasonable for the prices charged. For focaccia to share, bottle of house wine, two steaks (see pictures) and a cheeseboard (see pictures) to share, the bill was £104. The steak tasted good, and was served as asked for (rare). The cheeseboard was a bit lacklustre, with a small amount of blue cheese and the rest cheddar and camembert. Downstairs is a bar which is quite nice and quiet, and some outdoor seating is available which is pleasant on a warm day or evening. Toilets are clean and modern.”
