Quick info
About The Last Anchor
The Last Anchor is a modern British restaurant and bar at Haven Marina in Ipswich, set on the waterfront with views over the river. The kitchen serves British cooking alongside dishes from further afield, and a catch-of-the-day option gives diners a way to order fish that changes with what comes in. Vegetarian and meat dishes share the menu with the fish, and a burger and flatbreads are among the choices. The restaurant hosts group events, including work summer barbecues, and the staff can split the bill between several people.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food, with the burger and the flatbreads described as really large and full of flavour, and portions that left a table of four well defeated. Diners praise the quality and quantity for the money, though one calls it not cheap and another notes a premium on occasions. The mixed menu of fish, vegetarian and meat options gets mentioned, and the riverside setting and terrace view come up repeatedly. Service splits. Several describe friendly waitresses, and one guest with gluten free and vegan needs had a separate burger and dessert cooked after the kitchen was told at a work BBQ. Another reviewer waited a long time for the order to be taken and again for the food, was never offered more drinks, and found the meat cooking smoky. One visitor found the atmosphere loud, with shouting and swearing, and staff who looked stressed. A birthday visitor was given something extra.

“Super tasty food (which does come at a premium price point on occasions) but arguably worth the money. The service is seriously lacking, took 30 minutes for our food order to be taken and an extra 40 minutes for it to be served. We were offered drinks when we sat down but never asked again if we wanted more drinks. I had one glass of wine in over 2 hours & despite empty glasses still no offer. You could tell other individuals within the restaurant were also experiencing the same thing therefore atmosphere was slightly off. When charging such a premium for food the service needs to significant improvement or individuals will not return. Also can get quite smoky with how the meats are cooked.”
