Customer Review Summary

Friendly, attentive service comes up most, with reviewers describing waiting staff who were warm and accommodating, including help for a party with a walking frame and a vegan main arranged from a starter. The food earns praise too: a full English with a runny fried egg, sourdough toast and homemade hash browns, a waffle with confit duck and chilli jam, and raclette and sirloin for two cooked perfectly. Others mention fish and chips, whitebait, the wine list and a lovely view over the quay. Value splits opinion. One reviewer calls portions big and reasonable, while another found them small for the bill and still hungry after a meal and a couple of beers. The most critical reviewer received an overcooked, dry salmon skewer, was refused another option, and found male staff abrupt, though a server who later explained cutlery sizes to their curious daughters won praise.

“We were delighted to stumble upon this restaurant and enjoyed one of the best brunches we have had in England, or even on the island. Max made the experience especially memorable; his attentive, warm, and engaging service made us feel genuinely welcome throughout. A real credit to the restaurant.”

“The food was lovely except salmon on skewer was overcooked and dry, despite bringing the attention to this asking one thst can be cooked how they are suppose to be or at least another option the staff refused explaining the process which I understand how it work but it wasnt cheap so other option should have been offered. Atmosphere was lovely- we got looked after by lady named Samantha the second half of the time. She was incredibly amazing, has been attentive, beautifully mannered and took time to explain to my daughters aboit different cutlery sizes etc who was curious. Full of smiles and super friendly she made up for it all today otherwise Im upset about my main dish. Me and my daughter wanted dessert and another drink bit this put me off how abrupt male staff then became towards us. Its not cheap but suppose to.be lovely treat. Emailed this detail over. It was quiet only saw 4 people one another family in there the whole time we were there, sometimes I don't think people working there like who I experienced help the business bloom. We ended up walking to another place nearby for drink and dessert- every..single...staff... was learning and accommodating- all happy to help!!! The place was pretty busy and quite loud upstairs it was wonderful why? Because people buy from people”

“Me and my Partner went for breakfast this morning, I had the full English, which was top class and well presented. Lovely runny fried egg, beautiful soar dough toast, proper nice slice of thick cut bacon, homemade hash browns full of flavour, gorgeous sausage, fresh flat mushroom and beans, a cut above your average full English. My partner had a waffle with confit duck, chilli jam, goats cheese and a fried egg, I had a cheeky bite and it was divine. The food is made with care and love which you can really appreciate with every bite. The waiting staff are very attentive, friendly and kind. The view is lovely if you sit outside, the inside also looked very welcoming, stylish and unique. The rest of menu seems fabulous too. We will definitely be going back to sample the lunch menu, as is it sounds amazing and offer deals on two courses or three courses. It's a must visit!”

“I’m originally from West London and was visiting Ipswich recently, staying down by the marina. Overall, it’s a nice spot in terms of location — the view over the quay is pleasant and it’s a relaxed place to sit and have a meal. The atmosphere was fine and it felt like a decent place to spend an evening. The best part of the experience for me was definitely the service. The waiter who served me was really polite, attentive, and genuinely friendly. He came across as a really nice guy and made the experience better just through his attitude alone. The food itself was fine, nothing wrong in terms of taste, but I did feel the portion size was quite small for what I paid. After having a couple of beers and the meal, I still found myself needing something more to eat, which was a bit disappointing given the price (around £40 for my bill). I probably would’ve ordered something extra had I known the portions were on the smaller side. I didn’t mention anything at the time because the service was so good and I didn’t want to take away from that. Overall though, it’s a nice location with good service, and the staff really stood out in a positive way. For me personally, the main downside was just the portion size compared to the price.”
