About Spoon World Buffet & Bar
Spoon World Buffet & Bar is an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant at 23-29 St Matthew's St in Ipswich, with Indian, Chinese, Italian and sushi sections. A teppanyaki area cooks food on a hot plate, and the hot dishes include dim sum, fried rice, noodles and pizza. The dessert selection covers ice cream, jelly, cakes, and apple crumble with custard. A chocolate fountain comes with marshmallows. Soft drinks are refillable. Guests are seated at a table on arrival, and the tables are spaced out, with dividers between some of them. For birthdays, the team brings out a cake and plays happy birthday over the speakers.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come for the sheer spread of cuisines in the all you can eat format, naming Indian dishes, Chinese dim sum and fried rice, sushi and pizza most often. Close behind are the teppanyaki squid and prawn, called delicious, along with mussels and shrimp, and a dessert area with ice cream, apple crumble, cakes and a chocolate fountain with marshmallows. Several describe the restaurant as clean and well spaced out, and one praises how quickly food trays were replaced. The complaints are specific. Two reviewers found the refillable soft drinks limited, with one noting no sugar free options. One thought the food too heavy on salt and msg, and another waited for dishes to be restocked and found the custard stone cold. One reviewer reports that they and their partner fell sick after eating, and that a refund request ended with a manager disputing their account. Birthdays split opinion: one party enjoyed a cake brought out with happy birthday played over the speakers, while another found that song incredibly loud.

“They gave us birthday cake for the birthday boy, and played an interesting variation of happy birthday, which was honestly the only pleasant part of the experience. I fasted for 40 days and 40 nights so that I would have the gastrointestinal capacity for this establishment, but to my disappointment, the cuisine did not live up to high standards. The chinese food was good on plate 1, but by plate 4, I grew tired, so switched to other nationalities of gastronomy, but I fainted on the table, and fractured my cranium. I am now hospitalised and am seeking compensation in the form of a plethora of dense, orange jelly cubes.”

“Service wasn't fantastic - while the wait staff were polite and courteous, the host walked away from us in the middle of us trying to pay. Food ranged from a spectrum of vaguely passable to practically inedible, and despite having chinese, italian and indian food, there were very few available drinks for the bottomless drinks, so I was basically stuck with water. Even the siu mai was terrible, which is an achievement. Atmosphere was passable until they started playing a tinny rendition of "happy birthday" over the speakers at an incredibly loud volume - half of our table had to spend the entire time it was playing with our ears plugged. Worst of all, my partner and I fell sick after eating here. We called 7 times attempting to get a refund - when we finally got through to the manager, we were accused of lying and told us we should've gone to hospital, which is not what you're supposed to do for food poisoning. Overall, the experience was rather unpleasant, especially for over £25 a head. You'd genuinely find better food at a mcdonalds instead. If you want to spend that much money on a night out, there are plenty of restaurants around which will give you a pleasant experience. This is not one of them. Avoid at all costs”

“You know what they say. Jack of all trades, master of none. But in saying this, the food is always really nice and the service is great too. We Will come back often without a doubt, we've introduced multiple friends too. I was impressed to see the speed food trays had been replaced so quickly when kids decided to shove their hands into it. The food variety is great, plenty to choose from without a doubt.”

“I do love an all you can't eat buffet! If your happy with Quantity over Quality then this place is for you! The food is still nice and for the price of £22 per adult on a weekday I think it's a pretty good deal. Food is hot and fresh. Restaurant is clean and well spaced out. With dividers between some tables making your space feel even less crowded. I did enjoy attempting some food art with my pudding pile 🤣 and yes I did eat it all !! Refillable soft drinks.. shame they didn't have ANY sugar free drinks though. I'll be going for sure !”
