About Mancia Sicilian Bar and Kitchen
Mancia Sicilian Bar and Kitchen is a family run Italian restaurant in Hull, on Newland Avenue, with a 60-seat dining room. The menu is built as a foodie trip through the "Toe" of Italy, so the southern Italian dishes follow one regional thread from start to finish. The scoglio pasta brings together prawns, squid, clams and mussels cooked in white wine and fish stock. Pizza sits alongside it, including a pepperoni pizza with nduja. Gluten free pasta is on the menu for guests who need it. A bar makes handmade drinks to go with the food, and a Sunday lunch menu runs for the weekly roast. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, welcoming staff come up in most reviews, from a family-run feel where a relative of the owner guided diners through the menu to waiters described as lovely. Close behind is the Sunday lunch, with the roast, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese singled out, plus one reviewer's praise for the surf and turf. Also mentioned are handmade drinks, a cozy room and accommodating gluten free pasta, though one found the scoglio seafood pasta only okay. The kitchen draws the sharpest complaints. One reviewer, a chef, found the arancino frozen in the centre, the tiramisu cream rock hard and the house focaccia just two slices of bread with oil. Another describes garlic bread with a puddle of fat that was poured off and returned still soaked in grease, and a third reports being sick after a pistachio pasta that fell short of an earlier visit. One table found the service charge already on the card machine.

“I was in July and I had best pistachio pasta. I went there today and absolutely nothing close to what I eaten last time. One picture is from July absolutely lovely and the second is from today I don’t know if the chef didn’t care or what but i came back home and I was sick. I thought will be my one of the favourite restaurant but will never back there again..”

“I ordered Scoglio - Spaghetti with argentinian prawns, squid, clams & shetland mussels cooked in white wine & fish stock it was okay but wasn’t my best seafood pasta. The restaurant layouts are absolutely amazing and cozy vibes. Staff are very friendly, the service was spot on.”

“We had a great dinner at Mancia tonight. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff created a wonderful atmosphere from the start, going really above and beyond what you’d usually expect. Food was really good: we had a couple of pastas and a pizza (inc. accommodating gluten free pasta). We walked past and decided to call in on a bit of an impulse, but will definitely be back. One of the best Italians hull has to offer! Thanks again- Anna”

“Without a doubt our favourite place to eat! This really is what every restaurant should aspire to. The service is lovely and friendly. And the food is just completely out of this world fantastic. There is no scrimping on ingredients. You can tell that the chefs and owners care about every. single. dish that gets sent out of the kitchen and the proof is in the eating. Truly can’t describe how tasty it is. The only downside? It’s inevitably going to get busier the more people hear about this place and it’ll mean we might have to book in advance one day. But for all the authentic tastiness? I’ll make my peace with that. If you go on Sunday? Try the roast which might be the best one I’ve ever had and try the surf and turf which yes, i think is the most expensive item on the menu? But absolute game changer. Can’t wait to come back in a couple of weeks!!!”
