Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the fish itself, with the haddock and chips described as a generous size and not soggy or greasy. Several mention large portions, from a huge fish in a takeaway to a medium portion that was huge, and a shared platter of large haddock, battered sausage, fish cake and chips with mushy peas that was plenty for two. The curry sauce is called very tasty by more than one reviewer, and halloumi fries and the spotted dick also get praise. One diner who needed gluten free says any fish and any dippers could be done that way. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, with servers and waitresses singled out for making groups feel at home. Visitors mention the mini museum and plenty of space between tables. The one recurring caution is value on sides, as one reviewer is unsure they are worth buying separately rather than in a combo, and another found the Guinness not tasty at all. Several travelled a long way and say they will return.

“We were staying in accommodation locally and whilst picking up some groceries we noticed this big fish and chip restaurant. Not wanting to cook one night we went and got a takeaway - and what a takeaway The fish was huge the portion size of the chips was great. My family totally enjoyed everything about the meal, so much so we got another takeaway a few days later. Thoroughly recommend that if you are in the area that you try them for yourself, you won't be disappointed”

“Fish & Chips has been our family tradition since 1966. For over 50 years, three generations of the family have taken pride in serving award winning fish and chips to our local community. By sourcing the most sustainable locally produced fish and potatoes, our greatest joy is serving the second, third and fourth generation of customers Mr Papas served himself.”
