About The Scullery Kitchen and Bar

The Scullery Kitchen and Bar is a modern British restaurant in Huddersfield, on Belmont St, set in the original servants' scullery of a Georgian manor house that has been converted into a dining and drinking space. The menu is British, changes with the season and draws on local products. Black pudding bon bons come as a starter, and the fish dishes include seabass. Meals run across brunch, lunch and dinner. The restaurant opens Thursday to Sunday and is closed Monday to Wednesday. Groups can hold private parties here on a pre-arranged buffet-style menu. The dining room is lit with festive lights at Christmas.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the food, describing it as delicious and cooked perfectly. Dishes named include king prawns in a chimichurri sauce with a lovely kick of heat, black pudding bon bons, seabass, chicken schnitzel, a toffee sundae and the cheese board. Others praise the fish dishes, a soup, and sweet potato fries served in a small wire basket. One reviewer notes the homemade menu changes with the season and uses local products. Close behind is the staff, described as welcoming and attentive, with several returning for anniversary dinners, Christmas and Boxing Day meals, or a glass of mulled wine in the relaxing atmosphere. Festive lights, the courtyard and the indoor restaurant also draw comment. One host of a private party says the staff handled niche food intolerances without fuss and set up a photobooth and balloons brought in separately. A visitor from Scotland liked the food so much they ordered a second starter.

“If you're a traveler who likes to go 2 minutes out of your way to eat where the locals eat, then this is your place. If you like basic fare (like an English Breakfast) done with the best quality and care, this also is your place. If you like fancier fare for brunch, lunch, dinner, or a Sunday, again, this is your place. You know it's good when they encourage the locals to book their Christmas gatherings in JULY!!! Lovely staff, charming setting. As I write this they're renovating another part of the building to put in a pub. A short hike NE of the station - can't recommend this place enough.”

“Held a private party at the Scullery with the assistance of Helen and Steve, and we were absolutely blown away. The food, the drinks, the service, their attention to detail was all wonderful. The staff helped set up a photobooth and balloons I had arranged independently of their organisation, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was spectacular: we'd pre arranged a buffet-style menu which catered for some niche food intolerances and Helen sorted everything without fuss. All the guests had an amazing time, and the venue was perfect for a summer function, with the courtyard and the indoor restaurant. The staff were so attentive, circling throughout the night and arranging for guests to have a 'silver service' experience with drinks orders placed at tables and brought to us. All in all a wonderful experience - I can't wait to go back!”

“We had a fantastic time dining here recently. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was lovely, complete with festive lights that made the room feel very cozy. Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly. I especially loved the presentation of the sweet potato fries served in a small wire basket. It was such a nice touch to accompany the meal. We will definitely be back again soon.”

“Situated within a splendid Georgian manor house, located just outside Huddersfield town centre. Taking the original servants Scullery, and transformed into a wonderful dining and drinking space. With a beautiful terrace and gardens for quiet al fresco get-togethers. Offering local, seasonal, British, contemporary dishes over brunch, lunch, dinner and everything in between...”
