Customer Review Summary

Coffee draws the most comment, and mostly criticism. Reviewers describe a cappuccino that was too milky and came without chocolate until asked, espresso running too fast, milk practically boiled, and a drink likened to a warm milkshake. One reviewer reports the steam wand being wiped with the same cloth used on the counters. Food complaints include a toastie that was not toasted at all and a sausage sandwich with one and a half sausages. Others praise the staff as pleasant, helpful and fantastic, always smiling, and one says a sandwich and coffees make this their regular stop while at the hospital. Another calls the service speedy but notes overflowing bins and messy tables. Several describe abrupt or rude staff, and a few report early closing, including a toastie refused half an hour before closing. One reviewer describes a wrong drink made after a till error and being told it was on the receipt, with no offer to replace it.

“I’ve visited this place several times over the past few weeks, hoping my experience might improve—but unfortunately, it’s been consistently disappointing. Every time I come here, I get the uncomfortable feeling that I’m somehow doing something wrong just by being there. The atmosphere is genuinely unpleasant, and it makes it hard to relax or enjoy anything. The staff come across as extremely rude and unwelcoming, often looking at customers as if they’d rather not be serving them at all—as if working here is some kind of punishment. On multiple occasions, I’ve been asked to repeat even the simplest orders, only for them to read back again in a tone that feels more frustrating than helpful. There’s a clear lack of basic customer respect, and it shows in every interaction. To make matters worse, the place is often dirty, which only adds to the overall negative experience. I really wanted to like this place, but after several visits with the same issues each time, I can’t recommend it.”

“The toastie was not toasted at all. Untoastie will be tge new name. Capoucino was too milky..which is not a cappucino..seemed to be losing the Barista touch...and no chocolate...Had to ask.”

“Aside from the terrible coffee from the "barista" the lady at the till left part of her brain at home this morning. I ordered a croissant as part of my order, assuming I was to receive it as I get my coffee, a short time later I notice all remaining were sold to a customer after me. When approached she was offering me alternatives, that's not how things work so I demanded a refund. If this is "by accident" maybe somebody else ought to work the tills and serve customers because this woman has no competence of handling multiple orders while working under pressure. I'd call the coffee a warm milkshake to be honest and it costs more than what you'd pay elsewhere.”

“Barista need re-training. Poor preparation of coffee, espresso running way too fast because of incorrect tamping. Poor cleanliness, steam wand not cleaned every time, when it was cleaned it was with the same cloth as the counters were wiped - this is a major hygiene issue. Milk practically boiled, thermometer was in the jug but not being used, too busy chatting with coworker. I can understand this is a busy café but speed is not increased by missing these easy steps, only coffee quality is lost. If you are going to make below average drinks with the Costa name attached, the prices should reflect this.”

“Sausage sandwich had 1 1/2 sausage in it of the cheapest kind. Really try and avoid or you'll end on a ward here.”
