Quick info
About Grameen Lounge
Grameen Lounge is an Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant with Persian dishes on the menu, set on Halifax Road in Huddersfield. The kitchen covers the three cuisines side by side, from Bangladeshi and Indian curries to Persian plates, and the Sunday deal folds poppadoms and dips, a starter, a main and sundries into one sitting. Children are offered smaller versions of the main dishes rather than a separate menu. Diners bring their own beer, and the staff advise on how spicy each dish is. On-street parking lines the street outside, and the restaurant is small, so booking a table is the norm.

Customer Review Summary
Most diners single out the food as the standout, with several calling out the onion bhajis and seekh kebabs as standout starters and praising the breadth of curry dishes and sides that make it easy to try something new each visit. Close behind is the consistently warm, attentive service, with one regular noting a waitress who greets people by name and families highlighting how cheerfully staff interact with children, even preparing smaller, milder versions of dishes instead of a separate kids' menu. A handful mention good value, including a Sunday set menu with poppadoms, starter, main and sundries, and a few note the cozy, relaxed atmosphere. The bring your own policy and the need to book a table are practical points several mention. One detailed negative review describes sides as greasy and bland and the chicken tikka masala as tasting of coconut with added red colouring, and says they would not order again.

“My favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway in Huddersfield. The takeaway service is excellent and the variety of dishes is brilliant. The onion bhajis and seekh kebabs are fantastic starters and the amount of curry dishes and sides mean you can always try something new! Definitely an Indian restaurant and takeaway to experience when you visit Huddersfield.”

“Staying across the road in the Briar Court hotel we ventured out to try something different and we were very pleasantly surprised. Grameen’s chef produces a wide variety of delicious Bangladeshi, Indian, Persian and other regional dishes. Reasonable prices. Will definitely be back again.”

“Absolutely amazing food! Brilliant friendly service too. We're going to be regular customers from now on.”

“Ordered several mains with sides. The sides were extremely greasy and bland. The chicken tikka masala was very obviously tikka pieces of chicken placed into a korma sauce and then red food dye mixed in to try and make it look like a tikka masala (incredibly sweet and a massive overpowering taste of coconut), very disappointing. Will not be ordering from here again and will suggest others to avoid.”

“Had a take away from here the other week, lovely food. A fair way from HD4 but we'll be ordering again.”
