Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food, with friendly staff close behind. Reviewers single out scallops cooked in the shells, fish and chips, a pea falafel and lentil shepherd's pie, and lamb cooked with care, along with plentiful gluten free options on a Mothers Day menu. One reviewer calls the portion size perfect and the value great, and another calls the wine list great. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, including with large family tables where pre-orders were arranged ahead, and service is described as quick even when the pub is busy. Beautiful countryside views come up in several reviews, especially from the outside seating. One reviewer suggests booking on days other than a quiet Monday, though a few were seated without a reservation. In one account, a server remembered six starters and six mains for a group without writing anything down, and staff put together a takeaway order for a family member who missed a wedding celebration lunch.

“We were greeted on arrival and showed to our table for 10, plenty of room for everyone around the table, Karen was wonderful taking orders and chatting to everyone so friendly, she is a credit to the place. Had a wonderful family meal, the food was delicious all the adults and children enjoyed it. We will definitely be returning.”

“This was my first visit to the Hare & Hounds, I wouldn't hesitate to come back. We were greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant by Karen who was very friendly, polite and helpful, even though we hadn't booked she quickly found us a free table, we were given both food and drinks menus. Once our orders were taken it was only a short time before the food was delivered which looked amazing (sorry no photos, too busy enjoying it) the food was excellent quality, portion size was perfect and great value for money. Would highly recommend a visit here not only for the food and excellent service but the views across the countryside were beautiful.”

“Outstanding customer service by Karen and Stew! Despite being busy, they both made time to have a chat about pets with our daughter. Chef Matt put together 3 remarkably flavourful meals for us aswell as some super pudding dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, will be dining here again.”

“Lovely fresh cooked food and nicely presented. Excellent service from Warren who remembered our food and drinks order which consisted of 6 x starters and 6 x mains without writing it down. What was more impressive he remembered who ordered what? That is one amazing talent. 👏 All in all It was a lovely relaxed afternoon. Thank you so much . We will be dining with you again😊”
