About The Wick Inn
The Wick Inn is a pub in Hove on Western Rd, with a 1920s-themed speakeasy bar upstairs and Thai food served alongside the regular pub menu. The Thai menu includes gluten free and other allergy options, so guests with dietary needs have dishes to choose from. The taps include Aspall cyder, and a pub snack selection is available for those who want something smaller than a full meal. Live jazz plays every Wednesday evening from 8pm. The pub is open daily. A door person enforces a dress code that rules out tracksuit trousers.

Customer Review Summary
Thai food is what reviewers raise first, with diners calling it fantastic and beautifully presented, praising the variety, and noting plenty of gluten free and allergy options. Close behind is the beer list, with aspall cyder on tap and staff who help choose a tap beer. One drinker found the Timothy Taylor warm and fairly average, though the reviewer's wife enjoyed her Neck Oil. Another reviewer singles out live jazz on Wednesday evenings. The criticism is specific. One diner reports a meal that arrived with no rice, a watery curry, overpriced spring rolls and two requests before dinner plates appeared. Others call prices a little expensive or mid, and one notes it can take a while to be served. One regular found the music too loud to follow conversation, and another was turned away at the door for wearing tracksuit trousers. Staff are described as friendly and lovely, and one reviewer recounts a lost earring that staff searched the floors for, set aside, and later returned in person.

“Probably one of my favourite pubs in the city. Really solid beer selection and aspall cyder on tap too, staff are very good and quick to be served. Thai food is fantastic option and pub snack selection also super strong. Always a good atmosphere with that local pub vibe.”

“Came out this evening for a quiet drink only to be told by door person that they don't allow anyone in with tracksuit trousers on. The door person was perfectly polite but this seems an archaic rule especially in Brighton which is a place of freedom and expressing yourself. I had smart black addidas bottoms on so seems ridiculous this is not allowed in a laid back neighborhood pub!”

“Popped into the Wick Inn for a quick drink. The Timothy Taylor was a bit warmer than I’d have liked and fairly average, although my wife really enjoyed her Neck Oil. Had the one, then moved on.”

“I like this pub. Is local and great atmosphere. Sometimes it can take a while to be served, but the staff are lovely and it's worth the wait. Prices are mid for Brighton”
