Customer Review Summary
Reviewers are split, and the roast dinner is the dish they discuss most. Praise for the Sunday dinner is limited to one reviewer who enjoyed it, though that diner thought the cauliflower cheese should not be an add-on and found the beef fatty with two small roast potatoes. Others describe dry roast chicken, black and rock-hard roast potatoes, and a Yorkshire pudding with no flavour, though the cheesy leeks and Yorkshire puddings pleased one table. Close behind is the soft-shell crab and king prawn lunch, small plates, and coffee, which reviewers call delicious, along with the outside seating and dog-friendly welcome. Complaints about the hot honey Enoki burger centre on no honey, lukewarm temperature and batter without mushroom, while another found burgers basic with soggy buns. Several mention slow or absent service, including a wait for someone to take an order and no one checking back or clearing plates. Portions at the lasagne and caesar salad were called small for the price. One diner who stopped for coffee found the staff chatty and welcoming, and another table had candles found for a birthday dessert.

“Service was great. Atmosphere nice and welcoming. The starter was really nice but the main meal of hot honey Enoki burger had no honey to be seen, was luke warm, had loads of batter but no mushroom and was really quite small. Oh dear.”

“Service: We came from London to visit the area and stopped to have dinner at Bank House Hathersage. Hannah welcomed us and put so much effort into finding us a table. Excellent service from the start, with a wide and genuine smile, which I personally loved. Thank you, Hannah! ❤️ And Luis was very attentive to us the whole evening. Excellent service. ⭐️ We felt seen, heard and comfortable, and we enjoyed our dinner. Hannah also managed to find candles for my partner's birthday dessert, for which I was very grateful. 🙏❤️ 10/10 Food: The burger meat, for my taste, was a bit dry. And it would have been nice for the gluten-free burger bun to be toasted a bit and served hot. 6.5/10 The dessert was nice, but the pastry layers seemed a bit hard to cut. However, we enjoyed the combination of flavours. 7/10 Drinks: My cocktail, "The Rambler's Apple", was an interesting combination, but not quite to my taste. 5/10 Thank you, guys, for all your effort and hospitality. All the best, Alexa and John”

“My partner and I came on a 45 minute drive out to visit this particular restaurant and the local area. The service was poor. It was a quiet afternoon, so we were shocked to be waiting 20 minutes for someone to take our order. We eventually got up and asked them to come over, but they were far too busy on their phones, despite glancing over at our table frequently, still no one came! We had a lovely lunch elsewhere so it all worked out”

“We had a Sunday dinner which was amazing, but did feel for the price cauliflower cheese should be included not additional add on. I also felt two very small roast potatoes wasn't great. I hsd beef which was very fatty. However the food overall was amazing and would gladly come back.”
