Customer Review Summary
Reviewers consistently single out the countryside setting, with the large outdoor seating area and the views coming up repeatedly as a draw, alongside a family-friendly feel that several mention through the play area for children and the welcome given to dogs. Food is the other clear centre of praise: the rabbit and bacon pie draws specific note for its pastry, the chips are called out as excellent, and the gluten free sticky toffee pudding earns a dedicated mention, while one group event praised a buffet and another described the menu as varied and reasonably priced. The staff are repeatedly described as friendly, helpful and accommodating, with smooth handling of larger bookings also highlighted. The most sustained complaint concerns portion sizing and quality, with one reviewer describing an oversized plate of poor quality food and uncomfortable, dirty chairs in a tatty room, and another noting a long wait for food on a quiet weekday with no explanation from the team. Several recommend booking ahead for groups.

“I attended a private function and the hired area is very nice with a lovely outdoor play area for the kids. I had the hot honey chicken wrap, which came with some decent crispy fries and the wrap was toasted with nicely cooked chicken but flavours were a little underwhelming. It needed more pickles, onions, cheese and a bit of hot sauce. I asked for hot honey, it tasted just like honey. Just needed a bit more oomph. My partner's fish and chips was huge in portion and nicely presented but the batter was too heavy and greasy, and the chips were homemade but too greasy. Atmosphere is nice but food needs a bit more work and it'll be decent.”

“We held a family event for 22 guests in the function space at The Three Merry Lads, and we couldn’t have been happier with how everything went. The team were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating, particularly when it came to our catering requirements. They provided a lovely buffet, which was enjoyed by all our guests, and everything was handled so smoothly from start to finish. A big thank you to the whole team for helping to make our celebration such a success. We really appreciated all your efforts and would have no hesitation in recommending The Three Merry Lads for a special occasion.”
