About Lucky Stars
In Hemel Hempstead, Lucky Stars is a Chinese takeaway at 30 Stoney Croft with a menu built around noodles. Singapore fried rice noodles and Beef Ho Fun sit on the noodle list, and the duck noodle soup gives customers a broth-based option as well. Beyond the noodle dishes, the kitchen cooks chow mein and sweet and sour plates, with crispy duck and crispy chilli beef among the mains. Customer Review Summary
Noodles draw the most praise, from Singapore fried rice noodles ordered many times and beef ho fun described as spot on, to udon and a chicken chow mein called lovely. Close behind are the new pork dumplings, which one parent says taste fresh and sweet, along with crispy chilli beef, chicken chop suey and the chilli sauce. One longtime reviewer says the food has improved over the last year or so. Opinions still split sharply. One diner found the special chow mein bland, the shredded chicken mostly batter and no garlic despite asking for extra. Duck draws the harshest complaints: one reviewer describes a crispy duck quarter as raw, and another says the duck noodle soup smelled off and reports feeling sick afterward. A third says the salt and pepper dishes can taste weak, and suggests collecting because the front of house are pleasant. Another reviewer reports curry seeping through the packaging on two orders and a delivery charge despite the menu promising free delivery within two miles.

“I’ve had the Singapore fried rice noodles from this place so many times, they’re absolutely delicious. Their new pork dumplings are amazing too, the pork tastes really fresh and sweet. And the chilli sauce is so good! My daughter really loves the dumplings!”

“I went there on Wednesday, got myself, the box, mall and a Quarter crispy duck. The duck was absolutely disgusted. It was speeded or boiled and wouldn’t even fried or cooked properly. It was raw. Absolutely gross the worst Chinese in Hemel Hempstead absolutely disgusting. Please do not use it.🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮”

“Pleasant staff and the food I've tried was really nice. I generally order the Chicken and Sweetcorn soup, hot and sour soup, sweet and sour pork, any of the noodles but I tend to go udon, and then also salt and pepper ribs or salt and pepper tofu. All really tasty - i'd say the salt and pepper dishes could have more spices and flavour, it's sometimes a little weak-flavoured. I'd recommend collecting as the front of house are pleasant.”
