Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the chowder, described as haddock chowder with real depth of flavor in one account and seafood chowder in another, with cauliflower karaage praised for its crisp crust. The highlander burger comes up close behind, served with onion rings, and one reviewer's daughter also had a lovely burger. One diner calls the haddock and chips some of the best fish they have had in the UK and singles out the chips. Others name beef bourguignon, duck with hash browns, prawn curry, chocolate mousse and pavlova. Breakfast earns its own praise for a full Scottish with haggis on the side and eggs Benedict. Reviewers also mention the mocktails, generous portions, and attention to detail with complex dietary requirements. The one caveat comes from a breakfast diner who found the cappuccino and double espresso a little light. Service is repeatedly described as friendly and attentive, and one diner recalls a server bringing a fresh knife within a minute, without being asked, after one was knocked off the table.

“Wow. The atmosphere is good, the service is great, but the food.... words fail me. For starters we had the haddock chowder and cauliflower karaage. The depth of flavor on the chowder, and the texture and perfection of crust on the cauliflower.. perfect. I had the beef bourgoinon, and it was very good, no notes, but my wife had the haddock and chips... holy crap that was some of the best fish we've had in the UK yet, and the CHIPS... angels sing as you bite into them... I cannot say it with enough emphasis. Best overall meal in the UK so far.”

“We've been here a few times since I moved up to Scotland and it's always one of our go tos for a lovely meal out. We last went a month ago, my partner and our 2 friends and all enjoyed the food and service tremendously. I had the seafood chowder, beef bourbon and chocolate mousse - cannot wait to go back 🤤🤤 oh even the mocktails were incredible. Definitely worth while for a special occasion.”
