Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff are the most consistent thread, with reviewers describing a warm welcome and helpful service even when the pub was very busy. One reviewer praises a bar worker who checked with the kitchen so a late arrival could still be fed. On the plate, the hake draws repeated mentions, served with new potatoes and paprika butter or with chips. The carvery is called the best one a diner has had, with proper roast potatoes rather than pale half cooked ones. Others name tempura battered prawns, mackerel pate, pork loin and sausage with mash, Aberdeen Angus burgers with real onion rings, soup of the day and sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream. A couple of reviewers also speak well of the new owners. The complaints are about waiting and value. One diner says a table of eight with different meals waited a while, and the same reviewer found the food overpriced, the menu short on small meals, and an age limit on children's food. Another reviewer notes a wait on a very busy night but felt the meal justified it, and adds that the pub was accommodating of their dog.

“We booked arrived early shown table drinks were quick in coming! A meal for eight people took 30 minutes not to bad as we all had different meals the food was very good but overpriced problem with menu which didn’t have the choice for small meals and first time I’ve never seen a age limit on child’s food but 8/10”

We booked for 7.30 and got there early and was seated, really friendly staff, I had Tempura battered prawns and my sis had Mackeral Pate, both were delicious, for main I had Hake with New Potatoes Veg and Paprika butter and sis had Pork loin and sausage with mash and veg cooked to perfection and melt in the mouth, I was greedy and couldn’t resist Sticky toffee pudding with Clotted Cream it was like heaven in a bowl. Would highly recommend this pub, owners have only been there since April but wow, you won’t be disappointed.”
