Customer Review Summary

Diners consistently single out the fish and chips as the standout, praising the tender, fresh fish and generous portions, with several noting the haddock special and the Monday evening large-portion offer. The pub’s real ales and cask selection draw repeated mention, alongside the welcoming, friendly staff and a relaxed, local atmosphere that makes visitors feel at home. A few highlight the small outdoor seating area for people-watching by the harbour, while one reviewer describes the interior as cozy and filled with local fishing memorabilia. Several also return for the location, calling it a great spot after a walk along the shore or a visit to nearby attractions.

We spent 5 days in old town Hastings over new year period. This pub is an absolute gem, the staff and customers are all so friendly and welcoming despite being busy and probably having worked all over the festive period. We had a New Year’s Eve lunch and the food was really good with more than generous portions. Best pub in the area in my opinion. Loved it.

Really great fish’n chips. Fish super tender, juicy and fresh. Great special offer on monday evenings - duper large portion for a pretty decent price (13,50€) including a drink. Really enjoyed the place.

We had lunch in this nice pub after returning to Old Town Hastings from our East Hill walk and it was a very pleasant and soothing experience. The food (we had the haddock fish and chips as the special of the day) and it was delicious and fresh (we are near the sea, you can feel it), with one the ales available at that time. The staff was welcoming and friendly. There were tables outside but all were already unavailable when we arrived (sunny bank holiday). Thanks for the experience.

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Every listing is re-checked on a recurring crawl, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
