  “We went here yesterday the 5th August, got fish and chips for me and my husband and chicken nuggets for our grandchild, we couldnt get seated to busy, so went over the road to eat them, my husband's fish was disgusting! Was very thin and black , was not fresh and he put it in the bin, shocking to think what you pay for them, anyway he was up all nite being sick, will never go back😬”

  “Met with a smile ,shown to a table , ordered the pensioner special, and a portion of curry sauce ,took about 35 mins to arrive. didnt look bad except for the fact it was served on a piece of grease proof paper on a plate , I know from experience this is usually a recipe for disaster, while cutting into the cod or disecting a chip ( some were quite long) sure enough the paper tears and usually ends up in my mouth , I managed to avoid this due to experience , nevertheless I had to work around several tears. The cod was OK but I had the feeling I should have just ordered fish n chips. The chips were light and cooked well., the curry sauce was better than some places .Apart from the paper ( this needs gone) it was average, although the chips were better than most. For the price I would not go with the pensioner special again , oh and yes the tea did have some body not the pale excuse often supplied elswhere.”

  “It's a fish and chip restaurant, but it's a good fish and chip restaurant. Normally it's quite busy on a weekend but we were late getting down so after the lunchtime rush and before the tea time rush. Fish was very good. Staff were friendly and efficient. We do go here on a regular basis for a reason, it's good.”

  “We visited on Saturday evening and had fish and chips. Unfortunately the chips were under cooked and the fish over cooked. Whilst we were sat eating a couple entered the restaurant and stood next to the 'wait here to be seated sign' they were ignored by both staff members. They waited patiently for roughly 7 or 8 minutes before leaving, not once did the staff speak to these people. There were 2 vacant tables but they had not been cleared. Overall the service was very poor as was the food, we won't be visiting again. Stay away.”

  “It was a lovely dinner. Fish is not dry and the batter is crispy, chips are cooked through and soft to a perfect level, curry sauce was smooth (no lumps at all) and the garlic sauce was strong and creamy 😍 I would say this dinner cost decent price as well, would recommend”

  “We have ate here several times in the past the food was better but we visited today and the food was not to its expected standard. The fish and chips were very greasy. My niece had a Childs meal which was a fish finger which looked like it had been deep fried a hundred times and chips. She barely ate any of it. One person in our group had a pensioner meal, the other two had half lots, I had fish and chips. Overall the standard of the food was not as good as it has been I dont know if they have changed the chef.”

  “Had takeaway during the summer last year, which was lovely and more reasonably priced. Used the restaurant this time as we were cold (mid April) and wanted to warm up. Friendly staff, quick and decent service, prices to be expected. Food was great, and a good portion size. Please try the frickles (deep fried battered gherkins) as they are amazing! All around lovely place to enjoy a nice meal.”

  “I've been visiting for years and the gluten free cod here is consistently high quality. The chips are just right without being overly greasy. Their gluten free curry is worth trying, too. I've been told the gluten free batter tastes better than the regular batter. It usually takes around thirty minutes to receive a gluten free fish and chips order whether you're eating in or taking out. The takeaway collection point is inside the restaurant. There's toilets at the back of the restaurant which are disabled friendly.”

  “Wanted to sit in for fish and chips since it was so windy outside. The cafe was perfect, not too busy, room enough between all tables, staff seemed happy and not over worked. Food was perfect, very fresh. Would definitely recommend.”

  “I'm a bit confused about which cod & chips is the regular and which is the large. The large is almost double in price of the regular and the only noticeable difference is that the large chips come in a wire basket. I tipped out the chips onto the plate and took a photo to compare with a regular and I can't see the difference. The photos of other reviews have massive cod in the large meal, so I'm convinced all the large portions are actually regular portions with the wire basket. Disappointing first experience, I'm loyal to the almighty cod across the road and will remain loyal. We only popped in here as there was inside dining available. Staff and quick and friendly, dark interior that needs way more lighting.”
