  “I’ve eaten here a few times but this is the first time getting sick. I didn’t eat anything all day and was looking forward to the wrap. Unfortunately I got food poisoning and went to check their food rating and now I’m not shocked. I wish I checked this before. They are not following basic hygiene standards. Quality has dropped since opening and their latest audit reflects that. Person at the till is touching cash and wrapping the wraps right next to the till in front of you as well. I feel extra sick knowing the thought of something in the meat I ate gave me food poisoning. Not coming back here again. Place looks like it’s run like a circus now.”

  “i like the food here, reasonably priced too and large portions (for me at least) sometimes i can split into 2 meals. prices on the board aren’t updated but aren’t that much more from what the current prices are. their flatbread is absolutely banging me and my family always buy it. always fresh and tasty, lasts a few days after buying since no preservatives are used. waiting times for food to be cooked isn’t too bad, considering the restaurant is packed almost always, and that the meat is cooked fresh unless it’s doner (which is obviously carved off) edit: my mistake. i think only some prices are not updated to my knowledge”

  “I’m giving this place 3 stars. If the food taste wasn’t good, I would have given 1 star. The main issue was that the shawarma was served cold. Even though it was supposed to be fresh, the meat felt cold, like leftover meat wrapped with salad. That said, the meat texture, tenderness, and overall taste were actually good, which is why I didn’t rate it lower. Bread/nan was good too as they making fresh. I hope they improve and serve hot, freshly prepared food next time. Other grilled items might be good, but I’m unsure about a return visit.”

  “Lamb shawarma with salad - 4/5 This was really nice, great salad and the shawarma was nicely done along with the bread was very tasty Mix grill 3/5 The kofte had to be sent back is it seemed undercooked, they replaced it very quickly.The chicken shish was rubbery but the meat was perfect. So overall a bit of a mix of quality hence a 3. The seating area was very cold even though the heating system which is on the other side was on to max. It did eventually heat up but was uncomfortable initially with the outside temperature nearing 0. We did have to wait a while as during peak times there are a lot of takeaway orders and that may also explain the underdone kofte and overdone chicken as trying to maintain consistency with so many items on the grill does take a lot of skill. I’d go back but probably not during peak times.”

  “Ashtar Grill is an excellent spot for delicious Middle Eastern food! The kebab is perfectly grilled and full of flavor, and the chicken and lamb shawarma are absolutely amazing—tender, juicy, and full of authentic taste. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The service is quick, the food always tastes fresh. Highly recommended for anyone who loves quality grilled dishes .”

  “Authentic Iraqi kabab and grills, shawarma (Gus) also available. The prices are greatly competitive. The serving was quick and the portions were generous. I would highly recommend it. The kabab is the most Iraqi I have tasted so far in London juicy, fatty, and meaty at the same time, served with generous amount of bread. The shawarma Sandwich had lots of salad which ruined the taste. Would be great if the kitchen had simple sauces like garlic cream and Tahini sauce as this will greatly change the taste of the sandwich. Now the atmosphere needs some work on as the door was open and flies were annoying. The utensils and tableware are poor and need work on. Parking 🅿️ in the residential area next to the restaurant.”

  “If you are looking for a tasty and filling dinner for a reasonable price this is a great spot. The meats are fresh and cooked in a Kurdish grill style. However I am leaving this review in hopes that the restaurant will take on board this feedback. It has the potential to be a much better place if they work on their hospitality. The service is really poor. Although nobody was particularly rude to me I overheard many instances of poor or rude service in my one hour sitting. For instance, a customer asked for an extra menu and the waitress tossed it onto the table. Another customer asked for something to be removed from their dish and the waitress argued with them. I know it’s not a high class restaurant but even at the local fried chicken shop you’re served with a smile.”

  “The Iraqi kebab was very nice. Meat was nice and tender, resembling bbg lamb chops-ribs. They don’t give you a knife unless you ask for one. Cheap and delicious. Amazing bread too.”
