About Bombay Central

Bombay Central is an Indian restaurant at 328 High Rd in Harrow, with a dining hall built around a railway theme. Three G-scale model train tracks span the hall and the private events room, and one of them is billed as the largest inside a restaurant. Railway signs and artefacts give the room its vintage train station styling, and a toy train circles the ceiling. Brunch centres on Bombay street food, including samosa chat, while lunch and dinner turn to Indian dishes, with Pistachio Kulfi for dessert. The events room hosts private parties and celebrations for groups, with bar staff serving inside it, and a catering service extends to outdoor events. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers return most for the private events and function room, where birthday and anniversary parties, including an outdoor catering job, drew praise for the events team, the bar staff and food that guests kept complimenting. Close behind is the railway theme, with a toy train circling the ceiling, rickshaw and station decor, and a canteen feel that one reviewer likens to Indian train stations. On the menu, diners single out the Pistachio Kulfi, the masala papad, the Lollipop chicken wings in Schezuan sauce, the Karahi lamb, the Butter chicken, the samosa chat and the crispy corn. Several describe quick service and big portions, and one vegetarian diner finds the choices decent. The caveats are mixed. One reviewer found the food slow to arrive and the service only okay. Another, a one-star diner, says the fish curry and prawn curry tasted the same with the same sauce, and that a manager replied it is always like that, which the reviewer called rude.

“Bombay Central reminds you of the railway canteen next to train stations in India. The place is quite big and can hold parties for private events. The food in quite flavorful and decent in quantity. Being all vegetarian the choices are quite decent. The masala papad is a special mention. The serving time is quite fast too. Overall its a pick of the Indian fine dine restaurants in the Wealdstone area.”

“We chose Bombay Central's outdoor catering service for our 25th wedding anniversary celebration, and they exceeded all our expectations. From our very first meeting, catering manager Dhaval was professional, approachable and incredibly accommodating. He took the time to understand exactly what we wanted and happily accommodated all our requests, which allowed us to celebrate exactly the way we had envisioned. On the day, the catering team was outstanding. They were efficient, well organised and managed everything seamlessly at the venue, allowing us and our guests to relax and truly enjoy the celebration. The food was exceptional from start to finish. Every dish from the delicious starters to the desserts was beautifully presented and full of flavour. Our guests couldn't stop complimenting the food. A heartfelt thank you to entire team of Bombay Central for your hard work, professionalism and exceptional service. Your outdoor catering service was flawless, and you played a huge part in making our silver anniversary so memorable. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bombay Central to anyone looking for outstanding catering for a special occasion.”

“Bombay Central so exceptional. Overall, we had a truly enjoyable evening. The service was excellent, and your staff showcased a high level of attentiveness and interaction that made everyone feel welcomed and valued. The food served offered a wonderful choice of dishes and flavors that accommodated everyone's dietary requirements, featuring generous portions that flowed seamlessly throughout the evening. Every dish came out quickly, hot, fresh, and delicious, with the Pistachio Kulfi standing out as a particularly delectable dessert. We also want to give a special mention to our waitress, Sapna, who was lovely, accommodating, and incredibly welcoming. She frequently checked in on us to ensure we were happy with our meal and had everything we needed, making our dining experience extra special. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm, inviting, clean, and beautifully maintained, with convenient on-site parking and clean facilities. The function room provided a perfect private setting for our celebration, allowing us to mark the occasion in style. We would like to extend a personal thank you to the owner, who was fantastic to work with and liaised with us closely to ensure every detail was tailored to our needs, creating a memorable night. Having visited Bombay Central a couple of years ago before the closure due to the burst water mains, it is thrilling to see the restaurant come back even better and stronger. The unique model train feature on the ceiling remains as charming as ever, and the new clay pigeon feature adds great character to the space. During our visit, we had an engaging chat with the staff and thought it might be fun to lean into the transit theme even more—perhaps by introducing themed t-shirts for the team, such as styling table managers as "Station Masters" and order takers as "Ticket Masters." Your restaurant truly offers competitive prices and great value for money compared to other local venues, balancing an enchanting dining experience with celestial delight. Thank you once again to the entire team at Bombay Central for a fantastic experience. We will definitely be back again soon.”

Good to know

“A restaurant full of inspiration from old Indian Railways serving tasty Bombay Street Food (Brunch) alongside authentic Indian food (Lunch & Dinner). There are 3 model railway tracks that span the dining hall and private events room (Scale G). One of the tracks is the largest in the world inside a restaurant setting! Happy Journey”
