About The Old George
At 2 Boothferry Rd in Goole, The Old George is a pub carrying a gastropub listing, though under new ownership it now runs as a bar only and no longer serves food. That shift makes it a drinking pub rather than a dining one, so anyone arriving for a meal is better placed elsewhere, while anyone after a drink can call in without planning around a kitchen. Dogs are welcome alongside their owners. The doors open daily, and drinks are ordered at the bar.

Customer Review Summary
Whether food is served dominates: two reviewers report the kitchen offering nothing, one saying staff pleasantly pointed them across the street instead. A diner who did eat waited over an hour with one chef on, then found the sausage dry and the pork tough, with no goodwill gesture offered while a neighbouring table got money off. Others note a great pint, the pool table and friendly staff.

“Good little pub in the middle of the town. Great pool table and friendly.”

“No food at all. Just a bar under new ownership. People were pleasant and directed us across the street to the Weatherspoon which has a big menu and good service.”

“We recently dined at The Old George and, unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. While the staff were pleasant enough, there were significant issues that affected the experience. We arrived excited for a meal but ended up waiting over an hour for our food, which was quite frustrating. There was only one chef working, which might explain the long delay, but it didn’t make it any easier to be patient. When the food finally arrived, it was a bit of a letdown. The sausage was dry, lacking the juiciness you’d expect, and the pork was overcooked to the point of being tough and chewy. Despite the issues, no goodwill gesture or acknowledgment of the wait was offered, which left a bit of a sour taste (especially as the table next to us were offered money of their bill!) It’s clear that the staff tried to be friendly, but with the food not up to par and no effort to make amends for the long wait, I’m not sure I’ll be returning anytime soon. It’s a shame because with a little more attention to service and food quality, it could have been a much better experience.”
