About Gloucester Food Dock

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers return to the range of small independent venues, with Thai, burgers, pizza, Japanese noodles, cocktails, pastries and coffee all gathered in one waterfront spot. Several single out Wholly Gelato, and the brunch cafe is praised for its latte. Others name the noodle bar and the brownie place, and one describes a Thai restaurant where the owner is both chef and front of house and the food is spot on. One reviewer enjoyed cocktails presented with an explanation of the ingredients. The outdoor seating overlooking the docks is liked on a sunny weekend, and one calls it their go-to for a casual dinner. Price is the recurring complaint. One reviewer finds small main courses and craft pints overpriced for the portion sizes, saying a meal can barely fill them, and another says most places are regarded as a monthly treat.

“It's a well known historical fact that the Pilgrim Fathers set sail ⛵️ from Plymouth in September, 1620. Not many people know, however, that they all met at Gloucester Food Dock prior to driving down the M5 and the A38 to board The Mayflower. It was all a tad confusing as they'd failed to agree exactly where to meet due to varying degrees of culinary requirements. Luckily there's loads of places selling beverii and snackages. Quite a few of the pilgrims decided to have a beefburger 🍔 to acclimatise themselves to the upcoming stateside diet however munchies are available from around the globe 🌎. Hetty's was very popular 😋 due its excellence in the latte department, but everyone agreed they were all splendid eateries and drinkeries. Please note I'm tired and weary after a long day therefore the photos are in no particular order.”

“As much as I love SOME of the restaurants at the food dock for their vibrant owners personalities, it has become overpriced especially considering portion sizes. The Gentrification of the food on the docks is very sad overall and hard to enjoy realising it can cost you up to £30 for a meal that would barely fill you up. Some restaurants have a lot of character like Wagyu and Feather or Wholly Gelato both of which I thoroughly enjoy as a treat every once in a while but others have you spending too much. Average wage levels across wider Gloucester do not align with £16-£30 small main courses or craft pints. The Docks cater heavily to commuters, tourists visiting the Cotswolds and higher-earning residents. The restoration of the docks as a whole was such a great success, it’s just a shame it had to lead to this.”

“A good selection of places to eat and drink. Small independent venues. From Thai to cocktails and pastries to coffee. Lovely location and well out together. A mixture of indoor eateries and spaces outside overlooking the docks.”

“Gloucester food dock has variety of food options from burgers to Japanese noodles, Thai food to Pizza (Bella Mia), Hetty's Brunch cafe to Wholly Gelato. Nice place to enjoy food and sun on a good weekend (sunny).”

“Walked around the food outlets. We settled on Bel Amia . A unit on the lower floor . The service prompt, Informative and friendly. The food prepared fresh ,prompt and very tasty . The Cocktails expertly presented, with an explanation of ingredients and a touch of class I felt a valued customer. We sat outside nice area and great ambience overlooking the docks. After we went through the restaurant into the green door and had some expertly made drinks served by the head barman and his staff . Very impressed so much so we are returning in a fortnight. Compact, friendly with great food a pretty outside area , exemplary service . One of the best establishments we have visited. Thanks for keeping us in the top ten percent of reviewers. More soon”
