About Ristorante Pieno
At 311 Hope St, across the road from the Theatre Royal in Glasgow's theatre district, Ristorante Pieno is a family-run Italian restaurant. It won Glasgow Restaurant of the Year at the Scottish Food Awards in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. The menu covers starters, risotto, calzone and ravioli, with carbonara among the pasta dishes and tiramisu for dessert. Gluten-free penne is available for guests who need it. A two-course pre-theatre set menu is offered, and the bar mixes special cocktails themed to the Hamilton musical playing at the Theatre Royal. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the tiramisu, which one reviewer says matches the best they had in Italy, alongside a carbonara that arrived piping hot in a huge portion. Close behind are the generous plates generally: a calzone described as huge, the tagliatelle della casa, spaghetti frutti di mare, risotto fungi with chicken, and mussels. The pre theatre menu is called incredible value by one diner, and the Hamilton themed cocktails, a cosmopolitan and the wine also earn praise. A coeliac reviewer found loads of gluten free options, including GF penne with bolognese. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and a few note food coming out promptly. Complaints are minor: one party felt rushed on a busy Friday after three staff asked if they had finished, the GF bruschetta bread was a little soggy, and one ravioli was overcooked. One diner was greeted both on the way in and on the way out.

“After ending up in Glasgow running from power outages throughout northern Scotland our travels brought us to the Citizen M hotel. Why is any of this relevant? Well, out the door and 275’ down the street is Ristorante Pieno. Absolutely a gem in the theater district in the heart of Glasgow and home to the best meals Bridget and I had in the UK in a 14 day whirlwind trip. With no reservations and starving we walked into Ristorante Pieno and were welcomed with a warm smile an a choice of tables. Mo and Aphrodita took immediate care of us with menus and drinks. Questions were answered and suggestions made based on each of us narrowing down possibilities on the menu. Bridget had the TAGLIATELLE DELLA CASA £18.45 Our Head Chef's special dish! Tagliatelle tossed with crumbled Italian sausage, mixed peppers, cherry tomatoes, chilli, garlic and pesto in a creamy sauce And I had the SPAGHETTI FRUTTI DI MARE £20.95 Seafood medley of calamari, king prawns and mussels tossed with spaghetti. Choose your sauce: tomato basil or white wine and cream. The seafood was excellent but as usual Bridget won the day with her choice. On a cold wet windy day this restaurant was just what we needed. Absolutely the best meal I’ve ever had in the UK period and if you’re in Glasgow you must give them a try!!!!🍾🥂”

“Booked in here before going to the theatre because it was across the road. Best decision ever! Walked in to a really warm welcome, all the staff were so busy but incredibly friendly. The restaurant was spotless and well presented. It felt like eating in someone's home to be honest. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I opted for the set pre theatre menu which is incredible value for money. I ordered a carbonara and a tiramisu for dessert. The carbonara was so fresh, it was piping hot when it arrived and a huge portion! The tiramisu I am still thinking about, I have been searching high and low for one that tastes as good as one I had in Italy a few years ago, safe to say I finally found it! It was unbelievable, I'm just sad I didn't manage to eat it all I was so full! Amazing drinks choices, great wine and cocktails! Cannot wait to come back and try some more things off the full menu!”

“Staff were great. Place lovely and clean. Food was very nice. Particularly the mussels & the tiramisu. My ravioli was over cooked but still nice. We will definitely come back. Cosmopolitan cocktail nice too.”

“Food was fresh and tasty. Staff are friendly and we were served promptly. Place was very busy but was a nice atmosphere and not too loud. The food was flying out the kitchen. Price was reasonable too. Only issue we encountered was we still had food on our plates but were asked by 3 different staff members if we had finished. I appreciate it was a very busy Friday night, but we had prebooked our table from 5:15pm to 7:15pm and had only been there just over an hour... so felt a little rushed out the door. All in all a great meal and would definitely come back!”
