About Amarone
Amarone is an Italian restaurant in Glasgow, found at 2 Nelson Mandela Pl. The menu covers pizza, pasta, risotto and pinsa, with steaks and cocktails alongside a wine list. The pizzas are thin, crispy and arrive unsliced, and the pizza margherita is made with buffalo mozzarella. For dessert, the tiramisu is served in a small plant pot, so the last course arrives in a format that stands apart from a standard plated dessert. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, and it also takes bookings for celebrations and drinks.

Customer Review Summary
Pizza is the most frequent draw, with reviewers naming the Pizza Tartufina, the Pizza Pollo Diavola, a margherita with buffalo mozzarella and the pinsa contadina. One describes the pizza as thin, crispy and really delicious. Close behind is the tiramisu, which several note arrives in a small pot, and one calls the classic version the best they have had in Glasgow. Starters such as the mozzarella fritta, burrata and liver pate also earn mentions, along with the ragu and a prawn linguine swapped onto spaghetti. Reviewers describe the atmosphere as cosy and the staff as kind, cordial and friendly. Criticism is minor and specific: one found the risotto bitter from red cabbage, and a visitor said the margherita came very saucy and unsliced, so they cut it with a butter knife. One couple recalls a server spilling a drink during their anniversary meal, then telling them after dessert that the bill was on the house.

“We had a meal here for our anniversary, the server accidentally spilled one of our drinks onto the table, he was super apologetic and seemed genuinely distraught about the situation but we weren’t bothered as these things happen and we just laughed it off. We had a superb meal as usual with the foods being so delicious, after dessert the server informed us that our bill was on the house and we cannot thank him enough for his kindness and generosity as the incident wasn’t an issue and we were still more than happy to pay and still tip him too as his service was impeccable, but he was still very sorry about the earlier incident. We will definitely be back and will recommend Amarone to anyone who is looking for an amazing Italian meal :)”

“Had a very nice lunch at this restaurant. We ordered pizza margherita and pinsa contadina for us adults and cheesy pasta for our kid. Everything tasted great, the waiters were very cordial and the place was very well kept. As desert we ordered tiramisù (that was served in a pot, a very interesting way!) and coppa amarena.”

“Solo dining and I couldn't choose as so many things I liked on the menu. The lovely waitress kindly helped me choose main and then dessert and both choices were absolutely fabulous. Hope to bring my family back here sometime, they would love it”

“Great Italian eatery! We are visiting from Canada and were wandering around trying to find a nice spot to eat, drink and people-watch. We chose this place for its nice patio. We ordered the casa recce alla norma pasta (tomato-based sauce with aubergine) and the margherita pizza with Buffalo mozzarella cheese (vegetarian). It was phenomenal! Pizza came VERY saucy, thin and unsliced, but we managed to cut it with a butter knife and scarf it up.”
