Quick info
About Di Maggio's East Kilbride
Di Maggio's East Kilbride is an Italian restaurant in Glasgow, on The Boardwalk, with a soft play area for young children that suits families, many of whom sit beside it. The dining room has booth seating and retro, American-style decor, which gives groups and parents a place to settle in. The menu pairs Italian dishes such as lasagne with American-leaning plates like Louisiana wings and mac and cheese. The kitchen covers both sides of that range, so a table can order across it. Tables are walk-in, with no booking needed.

Customer Review Summary
Families return for the soft play area, which reviewers praise because many restaurants have dropped theirs, though several note that tables near it get noisy with screaming children. Close behind is the food, with diners singling out the ying yang chicken, a filling birthday dinner and a menu with something for everyone. Others are less impressed. One reviewer found the Louisiana wings dry with little sauce and the lasagne dry inside, and another called the pizza doughy, the pepperoni awful and the mozzarella dippers meh. Service draws the most complaints. Reviewers describe a long gap before anyone offered dessert, hunting down staff for the bill and the card machine, and a birthday cake that only came out after the parent asked for it back. Two object to an automatic tip or service charge added to the bill, and one reports a curt reply when phoning about a reservation. One parent describes the chef agreeing without hesitation to blend carbonara for their disabled son.

“Called to make a reservation and the girl / woman who answered the call was extremely prickly and rude and made me feel awkward for asking if I needed to book or if I could come in. She has left a bad taste in my mouth and I am going to go elsewhere as it was as though she was giving me into trouble or annoyed or angry at me for having called up to ask something (not an outlandish question - it is a Saturday and the first weekend after payday for most people). She was really rude and abrupt. I tried to engage her but was met with a strong, awkward silence. So. I will not be going there now, and I shall give my hard earned money to someone else today. Also, and I disagree with this, they automatically add a substantial service charge onto the bill. It’s extremely embarrassing to ask to remove it but I want to choose my own tip if I tip and to know that it goes directly to my server. It’s really embarrassing to remove it, so I don’t and most folk probably don’t, but it’s morally wrong and likely will go directly into the pockets of management. And also, I bet a lot of folk just put their card down and don’t look. It’s wrong. It’s presumptive. And I’d be interested to know exactly what it falls under in their account process. It’s wrong. This is not central London, and although I think it’s still wrong in central London, I can slightly understand it more given the astronomical operating costs there. In EK, when you’re paying close to a fiver for a coke already, draft, not even a bottle or can, no. It’s wrong. I shall never ever go back there and I will actively encourage others to take a left into Punjabi tadka or the Richmond instead - they do not add on suspicious service charges. You can tip if and when you want to.”

“Excellent place for an easy mid-week lunch with kids during school holidays. Great play area for kids, although all the kids and their adults seemed to be seated near it so it was a bit noisy. Just one thing, staff should be more forward about offers available; I'd looked beforehand about the kids eating for £1 during school hols, downloaded the app, believed I met all the t&cs but was charged full price anyway”

“I have to say I am extremely disappointed in my visit to here, we decided to come here because of the softplay for my wee one so we could keep him busy which definitely was a plus from our visit but I had came in early to drop off a cake and a balloon for my husband birthday this was due to my son wanting to hear the restaurant sign happy birthday to his daddy with a cake he had chosen all by himself I also dropped a balloon off at this time we then came back for are dinner at 19:00pm and as we walk in we where 2 min early but I could see the balloons be placed into the both not tied to anything like I had asked but I even said it wasn’t to much of a bother my son loved seeing the balloon he had picked there so that was fine, fast forward to the end of our meal and we wait around 40min of waiting to see if the cake was coming my husband guessing what was happening my son becoming very restless o had made eye contact with a few staff but I didn’t want at that time for my husband to see so he wouldn’t guess but I mean it was common sense that we wanted the cake to come out my husband then asked for the bill and very quickly it was handed to him then he had went to the toilet with my son and I was paying for the bill still no can we bring your cake out or anything I then had said I had bring a cake in early can I just get it back now and instead of the staff apologising it was an “okay” and then when they brought it out they then said” there you go “again no sorry or nothing I don’t know what I expected as we don’t go out for birthdays very often but due to my son loving birthday at the minute we thought this would be a great family memory instead we left disappointed and ruined our evening while leaving the restaurant my son said no wait we didn’t sing happy birthday or have cake and the girl at the maître didn’t even look up… I wanted to post this for the restaurant to train their staff a bit more on common sense I mean around 40min we had waited from when we finished our main to when we left”

“Dined here tonight with some friends from Cambuslang (20th June 2026) and had a lovely meal. The food was excellent. The only two things that slightly spoiled it were the extremely noisy kids that were sat at the table next to us where the kids proceeded to scream their heads off in excitement of the play park. The other thing was that we had to hunt someone down to get our bill, and even then we had to again hunt someone for the card machine.”

“We would just to give a massive thank you to the chef yesterday! Our son is disabled & only able to eat his food blended / puréed & when we asked if it was possible for them to blend their carbonara for him the chef said yes! No hesitation! It may seem silly & so simple to others however we have only had 1 other restaurant that’s willing to do this out of the whole 3yrs since our son was diagnosed. It takes massive pressure of us knowing that there is a restaurant we can go to & not have to worry about preparing food for our son & just be able to turn up like everyone else & enjoy a family meal out together. Every restaurant we’ve asked so far have said no or suggest our son who is 5yrs old this year to maybe eat their baby sachet food i.e. Ella’s Kitchen!! Thank you so much again! My daughter also loved your food & the staff were so helpful so we will most definitely be back 🙌🏼☺️”
