What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention cakes selection, toasties, red lentil soup and sausage rolls.
Customer Review Summary
The cakes draw the most repeated praise, with reviewers calling the selection huge and "to die for" and returning specifically for them. Close behind, the toasties and breakfast plates get consistent mention, including the cajun chicken toasty, a baked potato described as the best one reviewer had ever eaten, and the red lentil soup and sausage rolls. Coffee comes up too, with one self-described coffee snob noting it was only "just ok" at first but improved markedly after what they guessed was a supplier change. The space itself is repeatedly called clean and welcoming, with staff and the owner singled out for friendly, accommodating service, and dogs are consistently welcomed, with one visitor recalling a water bowl and even a sausage brought out for their dog. The lone recurring gripe is minor: one reviewer flagged the cheaper ketchup and suggested bringing their own. Several note reasonable prices and plan return visits, with one group praising the booth seating staff arranged in advance for a party of six with prams and dogs.

“Great value for money, decent quality. Good menu options. Friendly service. I would recommend to family and friends. They allow dogs which is usually a negative for me. Also, the ketchup is of the cheaper variety so bring your own...”

“Being a coffee snob, I tried the coffee when it first opened. It was just ok. But I guess they’ve changed suppliers or something because the coffee now is wonderful. The food is great. Tasty sausage rolls and the red lentil soup is to die for. Best venue in Kilsyth. It’s a roaring success. The owner should be a millionaire in no time. Service can’t be beat!”

“After a walk at Colzium estate and Banton reservoir we popped into Kilsyth for some food. Urban Grind was literally the first place we saw when we reached the high street. The interior is nicely decorated and clean - including the toilet, and the food was really good and very reasonably priced. Staff very friendly. 5 stars all round! NB - if it's your first visit, take a note of your table number and order at the counter.”

“One of the most welcoming coffee shops I have ever enjoyed. We arrived in the middle of our with muddy boots and dog and we simply could not have been made to feel more welcoming. The welcome was every bit as warming as the coffee. This is lovely coffee shop with great ambience, wonderful staff and a fantastic choice of cakes. I’ll be back again soon ! 😊”

“Visited here with friends last weekend & will definitely be back. Booked a table in advance as there were six of us plus two prams and two dogs, we were given a booth style table with plenty of space for us all which was great. We all ordered breakfast food and thoroughly enjoyed it, followed by cakes which were to die for (the selection was amazing). Cafe was lovely and clean & staff very accommodating. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!”
