About Yan Yan

On Baillieston Rd in Glasgow, Yan Yan is a Chinese takeaway serving the evenings, Tuesday to Sunday, and closed Mondays. Orders are taken on a walk-in basis, with no reservations. The menu runs through crispy honey chilli chicken, sweet and sour Hong Kong style, and kung po chicken in batter, alongside boiled or fried rice and chicken noodle soup. Families with young children can make use of the high chairs while waiting on an order. Both takeaway and home delivery are offered, with delivery reaching beyond the immediate area around the shop. The premises sit at a main four road junction alongside other shops, and while there is no dedicated car park, a parking area is available at the far left side of the main entrance. A wait for food to be prepared is common, reflecting the kitchen's approach to preparing each order fresh.

Customer Review Summary

Generous portions come up most, with reviewers describing food made fresh and consistently spot on. Curry draws repeated praise, and one reviewer who tried both the chicken and the beef on separate occasions calls the portions huge. Others single out the crispy honey chilli chicken with boiled rice, beef and mushroom, sweet and sour Hong Kong style, and kung po chicken in batter. One orders chicken noodle soup, salt and chilli chicken balls and fried rice with curry sauce. Staff are described as pleasant and chatty, and one reviewer says awkward requests are always catered for. Delivery is called excellent. The one caveat comes from a first-time visitor who notes a bit of a wait for food, though they found it fresh and tasty. Several say they recommend it to friends and family. One diner, unsure they were inside the delivery area, had the order arrive well cooked, nicely presented and roasting hot, with a driver who said he had never delivered that far out before.

“1st time visit here in June '26. I ordered my favourite dish to compare with this version. The crispy honey chilli chicken and boiled rice I'd highly recommend. The portion size was generous and the taste was excellent, actually one of the best versions that I have tasted. The dish had a good colour and some vegetables and onions too. The boiled rice was very nice. Staff were very pleasant and chatty, engaging in conversation. The shop is located at a main four road junction with a good few shops located around. There is no dedicated car park but there is a good sized parking area at the far left side of the main entrance. Highly recommend.”
