About Kozi Cafe

Kozi Cafe is a cafe on High St in Glasgow, open daily for daytime service on a walk-in basis. The menu runs to 74 dishes and builds its croissant selection around loaded versions such as duck with scrambled eggs and Korean chicken with chilli jam sauce, alongside a plain chicken loaded croissant. Focaccia comes in crispy chicken and burrata versions, and pancakes and rotating specials round out the food side. Coffee covers the standard range, from americano and espresso to macchiato and cappuccino, with lattes served in brown cups and saucers. Halal options are available, with swaps such as Turkish sausage in place of link sausage. There are no reservations, so seating runs on a walk-up wait list, with waits reported from around 20 minutes up to 45 minutes on busier days.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the breakfast and brunch plates, with the loaded croissants and focaccia at the centre. Diners describe a croissant with duck and scrambled eggs, another with Korean chicken and chilli jam, a crispy chicken focaccia, and a burrata focaccia that one pair said blew their minds. Portions come up repeatedly, with one reviewer saying the focaccia could easily serve two. Close behind are the pancakes, which one regular orders every visit, and the matchas and lattes. Several mention halal options, and one swapped link sausage for Turkish sausage. The main trade-off is the wait. Kozi takes no bookings, and one Saturday visitor reports a long wait for a table and food that was slow to arrive. Others note busy rooms, a matcha that was too foamy, a croissant sauce that was slightly heavy, and toilets and atmosphere that could be nicer. Reviewers also describe staff as friendly and accommodating, and one group received their coffees on the house after a delayed order.

“I’ve eaten here on a few occasions but finally decided to post a review. The pancakes here are amazing and i am sure to order them every time! Staff is always friendly and attentive. They don’t take bookings, but the longest I’ve had to wait on a walk-up list was 20 minutes. Definitely will be returning next time I’m in Glasgow! :)”

“I saw the food photos online and instantly thought "this place is next on my list" :)We parked at Duke street car park which is only £6 for the day - a great find now city centre parking is so expensive and usually limited to two hours. It took us a little while to work out to pay at the end as there weren't many signs, but a kind man helped us and the payment machines are beside the lifts on the ground floor. From there it's only around 5 minute walk to the cafe and actually the Merchant city. Very Handy! The cafe was extremely busy and you can't book, so there was a 45 minute wait, but it is Saturday and we really wanted to try it so all good. we went next door to Spitfire for a coffee which worked out perfectly. I had asked about a window seat and although the girl said she couldn't guarantee it, one was waiting for us when we returned, happy days!:) We both had lattes which were excellent and served in lovely brown cups and saucers. The service was great throughout although the food did take a little time to arrive. Once it did though , It was definitely worth the wait. I had the croissant with duck, scrambled eggs and sauce - the duck was cooked to perfection with no fat at all and there was plenty of it. My friend had the croissant with Korean chicken and a chilli jam sauce, which she loved, although felt there slightly too much sauce. Both dishes were huge and felt more like full meals than lunch, which we loved. there were fantastic menu choices along with a great range of teas, coffees and alcoholic coffees. £41 for two people felt very reasonable considering the quality, flavours and portion sizes. For me the food and service were definitely 5 star. I marked overall as a 4 because the toilets could be a bit nicer and the place itself lacked a little warm, or atmosphere, although it was still absolutely worth trying.”

“Great hidden gem with a range of halal options. They can swap things out too. Like I did for my brekkie. Rather than link sausage i got Turkish sausage. The food is plentiful too and we got our coffees on the house as they had tsken a bit longer to arrive. Something they offered to us. Thats service. Highly recommended.”
