About Rumbling Tum

Rumbling Tum is a breakfast café on Bain St in Glasgow, near the Barras market and a bit outside the city centre. The kitchen runs well past the morning fry-up, so a cooked breakfast with square sausage, tea and toast sits on the same menu as quarter and half pounder burgers with cheese and chips, paninis with coleslaw and salad, pizza and steak pie. Orders can be taken at the table or packed up to eat off site. The café opens daily and works on a walk-in basis, with no booking taken, and it fills up inside on Sunday mornings while the Barras is trading. A step-free entrance lets customers with mobility needs come straight in, and high chairs make room for families with young children. One table sits outside on the street for anyone who wants to eat in the open air, with on-street parking close by.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often come for the cooked breakfast, singling out a full fry up with square sausage, toast and tea, and many describe it as a dependable stop around the Barras. Close behind are the hearty lunches: half pounder burgers with cheese and chips, a huge panini with cheese, coleslaw and salad, and a steak pie main. Diners repeatedly mention fast service, with food arriving within about 10 minutes even when the place is busy, and friendly staff who made visitors feel welcome. Several call the atmosphere lovely, warm and calming, and some praise the decor. Tourists describe it as a local, Scottish spot, and one liked the huge bottles of proper sauce on the table. The one caveat is portion size, as one group found the amount of chips too much to finish and thought two portions between four would have been enough. Hot chocolates arriving piping hot is one more detail a visiting family remembered.

“Nice wee place near the Barras in Glasgow with lovely decor. Food was really nice and is available as takeout or table service. The panini was huge with lashings of cheese, chips, coleslaw and salad and the breakfast came with tea and toast. Even though it was busy our food came within 10 minutes. Staff were very friendly and polite.”

“Really Scottish/British place a lil bit outside of the city centre but the food was amazing. Received it within 10 min after ordering, the people were very nice and helpful and the food price ratio makes total sense. 10/10 would recommend”
  • Cameron M
“The food, service and atmosphere were fantastic! The beautiful smiles and friendly banter of the girls serving us made us feel so welcome. We had the 1/2 pounders with cheese, chips, and a 1/4 pounder with chips. For drinks we had hot chocolates. The food was very filling and the drinks piping hot. Zero complaints from the four of us. We're heading back to Australia in a couple of days but when we're back in Glasgow next, we'll be back here. Highly recommended!”
