About Cafe Wander
Cafe Wander is a café and breakfast restaurant on W George St in Glasgow, set in a basement reached by stairs from the street. The kitchen serves a simple breakfast and lunch menu alongside homemade burgers and cakes, with breakfast available all day. A Full Scottish Breakfast comes with toast, and brioche French toast is often topped with chocolate or Nutella and honeycomb. Porridge is served in a large portion, and the breakfast roll can be built to order. A chai latte rounds out the drinks. The cafe opens daily and welcomes dogs. At peak times the room can fill up, with waits or slower service as a result.

Customer Review Summary
The full Scottish breakfast draws the most consistent praise, with reviewers repeatedly calling out the beans, haggis and black pudding, and generous portions at a reasonable price, alongside a porridge several diners single out as a highlight, one saying it was good enough to order three mornings running. Close behind, the brioche french toast with Nutella and honeycomb and the chai latte earn strong individual praise, and the tea is called the best part of one visit. Service is generally described as friendly and efficient, though when the cafe gets busy several reviewers report slow service, food arriving unevenly across a table, and unclean tables or worn seating. A few complaints go further: one reviewer describes fruit added to a french toast order despite a stated fruit allergy, and another found a bread scone moldy and stale with off clotted cream after purchase. Reviewers otherwise describe a cosy, no-fuss basement spot, with one noting the steps down from the street were littered and slippery in the rain.

“Unfortunatelly this place was a major dissapointment. We were lured in by the good reviews and the place didn't live up to the hype. The place is small and kinda cute, but also get's really loud. We waited a really long tome for our food. When it came it was... ok? I mean, nothing special. A little bit dry. But there were some concerns. The biggest one - I ordered brioche french toast and it was supposed to be with chocolate and honeycomb. It came with a lot of fruits. That was not on the menu and that is a huge allergy concern. I have major fruit allergy but fortunately, they were whole and I could just give it to another person. But stuff like that should never happen. With every order there was something wrong. Nothing major, but really annoying anyway.”

“the staff and the owner were both so lovely and sweet. everything is halal and they’re all so happy to help. the food was all fresh and delicious not to mention the fresh juice was 100% freshly squeezed. will definitely go back because the prices are so reasonable and there’s so much choice !!!!”
