Quick info
About The Cricklewood
The Cricklewood is a gastropub in Glasgow at 27 Hamilton Rd, with exposed stone walls, banquettes and wooden floors. The kitchen serves fish and chips and a peri peri chicken burger, and the Sunday roast comes as beef with Yorkshire pudding. Fries or chips come with mains. A bar area handles the drinks, so the room works for a pint as well as a meal. A private dining room gives groups a space to eat together. Dogs are welcome inside.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers come up most, and reviewers are split: one praises a peri peri chicken burger and another says the burger tasted like real beef, while a third describes a burnt, dry beefburger with dry fries. Fish and chips divides opinion the same way. One diner calls it the tastiest they have had but notes the portion had shrunk since an earlier visit, while another reports frozen chips and a greasy fish. Roasts follow, with a Sunday roast beef called well cooked and good value, against a roast dinner where the Yorkshire pudding was forgotten and then arrived raw. Pork schnitzel, haggis bon bons and sticky toffee pudding with honeycomb also earn praise. Service splits too. Several find staff friendly, and one says they looked after their dog well. Two reviewers describe an unwelcoming staff member with a poor attitude, and one reports a long wait for lunch. One reviewer calls a small portion of peppercorn sauce pricey. A group of fifteen on a work night out had a server who offered a replacement meal, then something else from the house.

“I came to this restaurant last night, and it was absolutely amazing, the staff are very friendly, pleasant to interact with and nice. The food was wonderful,I had the pork schnitzel and it was thin and crispy just like the schnitzel in Germany, the flavors were great aswell. This was some of the best food I've had so far this trip, and I definitely recommend this restaurant.”

“Really disappointed with quality of food, My Mrs got a roast dinner & they forgot the yorkshire pudding, once we informed the waitress they came out with it which wasn't cooked properly & raw, but they did come back with a better one but unfortunately it was roasting hot & by the time it had cooled down, my mrs have eaten the rest of her roast dinner. Very disappointing”

“The food was exceptional and fresh. It's on the pricey side for soft drinks and water and cost £5 for a very small portion of peppercorn sauce which was a little alarming but overall the food was great.”

“Hostess / female waitress who was on door/bar was entirely unwelcoming and not bothered. She Grunted when told we didn’t have a reservation - despite the place being empty! She had the pace of a snail & Sighed so much, that we actually considered that she may have asthma but concluded Clearly she is in the wrong job going by her eye rolls. Food was basic - canteen level at best. Frozen chips, bland sauce, tasteless chicken and the fish was greasy. Wont be back.”
