Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the steak pie, named repeatedly as lovely and a safe pick for pub food, with one reviewer saying it was recommended and did not disappoint. Close behind are the tomahawk steak, praised for its presentation and likened favourably to a chain steakhouse's, and the haggis bon bons, roast chicken and desserts such as sticky toffee pudding and trifle. Many describe friendly staff, reasonable prices and a busy, local feel, and a few mention being left unrushed. Portions draw mixed comments: one calls them not huge but right for lunch, while another praises great portions. The negatives are sharper. One diner found the food cheap for a reason and said staff walked past requests for drinks top-ups despite table service. Another reported chips, cheese and curry sauce arriving with what tasted like gravy, plus a bland lentil soup, and described a waitress as rude when other customers sent food back. One reviewer wanted more vegetarian options. The tomahawk steak was boxed up so a diner could finish it at home.

“Had the tomahawk Steak and all I can say is wow, the presentation was outstanding and the food was delightful. As my partner said better than the tomahawk steak at miller and carter. I wish I could have eaten it all, but it was boxed up ready for me to take home and eat later. Highly recommended, and at a fraction of the price other restaurants take for food if such high quality.”

“Chips, cheese and curry sauce was actually chips, cheese & gravy - it smelled like gravy, looked like gravy and tasted like gravy but was told it is definitely curry sauce - the burger tasted like sewage & the lentil soup was bland. The 1st waitress was lovely but the other lady definitely had an attitude problem. Other customers were also sending their food back, I turned around and the 2nd staff bit my head off & told me I wasnt allowed to dicuss anything with customers. She was really rude and quite aggressive. Would not waste your time going here.”

“Food was cheap for a reason. Not very good standards. Service was a joke asking for your top up for juice etc. just walking bye you when there is to be a table service. £75 would have been better going to McDonald's.”
