About De Havilland Arms
The De Havilland Arms is a pub and restaurant on The Key in Elvetham Heath, Fleet, named after aviation pioneer Geoffrey de Havilland, who tested float planes at Fleet pond in 1912. De Havilland memorabilia inside the pub carries that story, and the building was designed to resemble the farmhouse on whose land the estate stands. Inside are log fires and oak beams, and a single bar where drinks are ordered. The beer list includes pale ales and a stout, with tastings offered at the bar. The kitchen serves breakfast, burgers and fish and chips, and a two-pizza special runs alongside a small pizza selection. Dogs are welcome. The pub sits two minutes from junction 4A of the M3.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, accommodating staff are what most reviewers return to, with the bar manager singled out for offering several beer tastings that helped a guest choose among the pale ales and stout. The food earns solid marks close behind: a prawn cocktail sandwich with chips, a small caesar salad and the signature chicken, and pizzas called really good and well made, though the pizza selection is small. Breakfast is described as fresh and prompt, and the outdoor area and beer garden draw praise for relaxed afternoons. The complaints are specific. One diner found the double stacked beef burger overcooked, with a dry, slightly hard bun and minimal filling, and another got fish and chips with more batter than fish. On one busy evening a lone bartender faced a long queue and uncleared tables, and a staff member shouted at customers for queuing by a fire exit, which the reviewer called aggressive and rude. That reviewer also found the main menu less appealing than the children's menu. Families fill the garden, and one dog got a bowl of water.

“Love coming here again since Adam became manager! What a lovely bunch of staff, delicious food and drinks, and a very cozy atmosphere- really brilliant to have our local back to being a fab place to come, for a coffee and cake as a family or for an evening out. 100% would recommend!”

“We went for an early dinner before the England match and to see the refurb. We thought it all was reassuringly familiar but refreshed and stylish. Megan took excellent care of us and found us a table in a comfortable spot with a lovely through breeze because of the heat, and took good care of us. Both the drinks and food came promptly and a bowl of water for the dog. Due to the heat, I had a small caesar salad and the signature chicken and it was enough, and my partner had the salt and vinegar battered fish and chips. More batter than fish in this case, but we went away happy and well looked after.”

“I really enjoyed my visit. Prawn cocktail sandwich with chips and a pint. The staff were the best I’ve had in any pub, cheerful and accommodating. Highly recommend.”

“Visiting the area yesterday and stopped by around 5pm for some dinner . It was a warm sunny evening and the beer garden is fantastic. It was clear that they were short staffed as most of the tables had not been cleared . Anyway, I went inside to get 2 beers , there was one girl behind the bar on her own , she was polite, however as she was on her own there was a massive que , which is fine , however, another girl called libby appeared and then shouted at the customers that they could not stand or que by the doors as it was a fire exit , her manner was aggressive and extremely rude , the whole bar area went quiet and awkward , a suggestion is if you don’t have enough staff don’t shout at your customers because of where they are queuing , that is your problem and not ours , of you had more staff on then it wouldn’t have been an issue . I then overheard her talking to I assume a regular custom that another girl was late for work and had not shown up . Again not our problem , these people were here for a nice evening and we were shouted at like naughty children , we had a look at the menu and the children’s menu is more appealing than the main menu , poor selection . Drank our drink that we waited 29 mins for and left . We won’t be back.”

“Situated in the heart of Elvetham Heath, just two minutes from junction 4A of the M3, the De Havilland Arms is the perfect example of a traditional country pub and restaurant at the heart of its local community. Named after Geoffrey de Havilland, the British aviation innovator who, in 1912, used Fleet pond to test his revolutionary ‘float planes’ (Sea planes), the pub was designed to look like the farmhouse and buildings on whose land the Elvetham Heath estate was built. With a beautiful outside terrace garden and roaring log fires and oak beams inside, as well as regular events, the De Havilland Arms really is a pub for all seasons and occasions. Always dog-friendly.”
