About The Gallery Restaurant
The Gallery Restaurant is a restaurant in Farnborough, set inside the College of Technology and run by its catering students. Students cook and serve classic British dishes, and tutors oversee the work. Evenings centre on a set five-course tasting menu, and vegetarian substitutions are available when guests give advance notice. Students also staff the bar, where cocktails are made to order and a non-alcoholic dry mead is sold. Tables are walk-in, with no reservations taken. The dining room is a glass-enclosed space within the college building, which gives learners a working floor to train on.

Customer Review Summary
The five-course tasting menu is what reviewers return to most, describing it as full of flavour, well presented and tasty, with portions that are not huge but leave diners feeling well fed. Everything is prepared, cooked and served by college students under an experienced chef tutor, and several say they forgot they were students. Close behind is value, with one reviewer calling it food worthy of a top restaurant at bargain prices and another comparing it to a Reading restaurant they dine at often. Vegetarian diners found thoughtful substitutions, though one reviewer notes these must be requested ahead of time. Reviewers also single out the bar staff's cocktails, a dry non-alcoholic mead one called gorgeous, and tea, coffee and petit fours included on one visit. Service is described as professional, delivered with smiles and quiet efficiency. One reviewer mentions that tips go into a pot for an end of term trip, and another recalls a server offering to take a photo so they could be in it.

“Very easy to forget that you are sitting inside a college building, so smart and enclosed is the restaurant. We went for the set 5-course dinner menu at £26. The food was excellent, full of flavour, really well presented and with some thoughtful substitutions for vegetarians (provided you state ahead of time). The dishes aren't huge but I didn't expect large portions for a tasting menu and we certainly felt well fed. Dinks are very inexpensive and on this occasion tea, coffee and petit fours were included. Keen to return for lunch sometime.”

“It's 5 starrs from me. The food was expertly prepared and the service was professional. These students straight out of school are doing an excellent job. I wish them all well in their chosen career path. Our server Olly was very very good”

“Amazing! I almost don't want to spoil a local secret. Food all prepared, cooked and served by students to their utmost best, very impressive for students almost straight out of school. The bar staff prepared cocktails to a standard as good as a well known local airport hotel! The overall attention to detail would put many restaurants to shame. The taster menu is excellent. Well done to all!”
