  “Fish was ok, shame that the chips had been re-cooked so many times, they were horribly brown, hard, which left inedible. Would have taken back but do not live in the area.”

  “Lovely new owners - hadn't been for a long time since the previous owners and was very pleased. We've found it to be a big improvement and after a long time not going we've been twice in the last month! Lovely chips, battered sausage and curry sauce 👌 Will definitely be our go to chip shop from now on!”

  “Edit 2025: First visit to Sea King with the new owners and I was very happy with the food and the prices are still very reasonable. Good quality decent size piece of cod freshly cooked to order, well cooked with a nice thin, crisp batter, not greasy. Fantastic chips, nice and crisp and a good size portion. Highly recommended. Cod and chips with mushy peas cost £11.40. Previous review from 2023: Great little fish and chip shop offering all the usual fare. The fish is cooked freshly to order and cooked just right. Good sized portions and very reasonable prices - cod, chips and mushy peas cost £9.70. The hot food was packed in a paper bag which is always a good sign of a chip shop that knows what they’re doing. My only slight criticism is that the chips could have been a bit crisper, but they were still pretty good.”

  “Usually I would praise sea king however today I went in as usual to order my cod and chips. Then I forgot my curry sauce so asked if I could add that on. As I sat down I noticed the drinks fridge and wanted a Diet Coke. Took this from the fridge, walked up to the till to be greeted with “this your third time, so you want anything else, you’re paying by card?” I then replied “no and yes I’m paying by card” the lady then repeated twice what she said to me. I then said to her I won’t bother and she then decided to change her mind saying she’ll make it up to me. I asked for my chips and wanted to leave. I felt quite embarrassed as this was in a shop full of customers won’t be returning anytime soon.”

  “The food isn’t very nice here I’ll be honest. Genuinely was the worst fish and chips I’ve ever eaten personally and I’m not a fussy person. I don’t even leave reviews but this one is necessary because it genuinely isn’t nice fish and chips. Curry sauce wasn’t great, fish was poor, sausage was tiny and microwaved. The chips were the best part. Overall very disappointing.”

  “The first time I've used this chippy wasn't busy, as it was late. I ordered cod and chips . It was freshly cooked as was the savaloy. A little wait, and I'm on my way home. The fish was excellent and batter crispy and not soaked in oil, very tasted, the chips also cooked fresh and was very tasty. The savaloy is not a long one but again cooked as I liked it. If you live around Mytchett, it's worth a pop in off-road parking outside. It's next to the Eat well cafe, and Mytchett Chinese. Very enjoyable, thank you. 😊”

  “Quite possibly the worst fish n chips have ever had! The batter for the cod was far too crispy and expensive for the size of it. The chips not fat enough. Very disappointing for what we paid. With regards to the fish, they must have been having a bad day.”
