About The Kara Fleet

The Kara Fleet is a Turkish restaurant at 335 Fleet Rd in Fleet, and it is a new branch of The Kara. Neon-lit decor fills the dining room, with photo spots along the route to the toilets, so guests have places to take pictures during a meal. The menu centres on grilled meat, with lamb shish served with salad and a mixed grill for sharing the range. Pita or bread comes with dips, including a Pink Lady dip. Seafood is also on the menu, alongside halloumi paired with garlic sauce. A lunch menu with lunch-time deals suits a midday visit. The drinks list includes cocktails.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often single out the grilled meats, with the lamb shish described as moist, tender and nicely seasoned, and the chicken shish, lamb chops and mixed grill also getting praise. Close behind are the starters and sides: a generous serving of pita with dips, calamari, halloumi paired with garlic sauce, and tender ribs with a bbq sauce that was not overpowering. Others mention seared scallops with a Malibu sauce, grilled octopus with a freekeh salad, and a mac and cheese one reviewer called the best they had ever had. Portions on the weekday lunch menu are called generous and reasonably priced. Service comes up repeatedly as attentive and friendly, with one reviewer noting sauces and seasoning reached the table before the food. The one criticism is small: the hummus needed a little more olive oil, and the octopus was a little firm. Several describe the decor as flamboyant, and one mentions photo ops on the way to the toilets, while a few celebrated anniversaries here, and one was seated within an hour on a last-minute Father's Day call.

“First time here and it was amazing! The service was top notch! The food was delicious! I would highly recommend the calamari, the lamb chops and the mixed grill! The hummus was nice but needs a little bit more olive oil, and the halloumi was great - it pairs well with the garlic sauce. The ribs were so tender and bbq sauce was not overpowering at all. Such a great experience!”

“Absolutely delicious food! I genuinely couldn't fault this place. The service was exceptional. I honestly can't remember the last time I visited a restaurant where I didn't have to ask for a single thing. The attention to detail from the staff was outstanding. Sauces, salt and pepper, and everything else you might need were brought to the table without asking, and, crucially, they arrived before the food. I went for the lunch menu, and the portion sizes were generous. Every dish was sensational. The bread served with the Pink Lady dip was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious, while the chicken shish was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a beautifully dressed salad. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted every bit as good as it looked. Even the finer details stood out, from the quality cutlery to the proper napkins, which really added to the overall dining experience. It's easy to see why they're rated 4.9 on Google. From the food to the service, there really wasn't anything to fault. Long may they continue! Thank you for showing what great hospitality should look like.”

“Cannot fault the place, food is delicious, best mac & cheese I’ve ever had. Roast was lovely, my partner had beef which I think was nicer than chicken. Staff are very attentive, place is immaculate and so clean. Great atmosphere, had a live singer. I called last minute for a table on Father’s Day & was managed to be seated within an hour. Will 100% return & recommend. Special thank you to Aayosh & another gentleman his name began with a B, who really looked after us.”

“This is a bit of a mad place but a lot of fun. The decor is flamboyant in a way that verges on tacky, they certainly don't take themselves too seriously here with photo ops on the way to the toilets - it's a refreshingly unserious vibe! The food itself is great too, delicious platters with vibrant flavours. Staff were attentive and you get the impression this is somewhere that always feels lively. Really enjoyable all round!”

“I visited Kara Restaurant in Fleet for the first time with some work friends, and I have to say it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The cocktails were excellent, the food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. On top of that, the service was outstanding. If you're looking for a great place to enjoy delicious food and drinks in a lovely setting, I would highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. I’ll definitely be coming back!”
