Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come for the fish and chips, with haddock and cod singled out for thick, succulent fish in light, crisp batter, and chips described as crunchy outside with a fluffy centre. Hoki, calamari and the tartare sauce earn praise from some, while others enjoy the chicken fillet with gravy, breaded king prawns and a brownie. Views over the harbour come up repeatedly, along with a busy queue that one reviewer says moves fast. The complaints cluster around portions and order accuracy. One longtime customer found the regular cod tiny, and the replacement piece was mostly overcooked batter. Another reported uncooked hake batter and hard chips. A third received two child's meals without chips and curry sauce instead of the gravy ordered. One reviewer also disliked waiting in the cold with the door held open. The woman at the counter refunded the undercooked hake without any issues.

“By far the best fish and chips I have ever had. Both the hoki and haddock were perfectly cooked, not to salty and not oily with a really nice batter, the chips tasted house made and the tartar sauce was perfect. Good size potions so bring you appetite. Also you can take it to go if you want but be warned there is a queue though it moves fast. Would highly recommend 👌”

“We've been customers since they were winning awards around 2016-17, but unfortunately they've really gone downhill! Ordered the regular cod and chips (which is the biggest size they do, and just under £20!) and it was really tiny. I didn't even have the same amount of chips as my husband which is why I thought it genuinely could have been a mistake. Got the usual spiel of the fish being categorised by weight etc., but eventually they offered an extra piece which I accepted, although the quality of this did not match the original bit I was served, there was hardly any fish in it and it was mainly overcooked batter. My husband had the regular haddock, which was sized as expected, but we still asked for more chips (at least these were unlimited!) The ketchup tasted very strongly of vinegar, so we are really glad we got some mushy peas and curry sauce to share; these weren't too bad. Taste and texture was ok but just not as good as it used to be.”

“The best fish and chips I have ever eaten. The fish is thick and succulent in a crispy batter. The chips are crunchy outside with fluffy centre. Perfect! The restaurant is immaculately clean. All staff make you feel welcome, service is with a smile and extremely efficient. The views of the harbour are an added bonus to the restaurant atmosphere. Well done to the team”

“Very busy chippy but can see why. We ate in the restaurant area which has lovely views over the harbour and is dog friendly. Our food was great, there was a mix up with one of our orders but the staff sorted it quickly. Lovely choice on the menu and the lightest crisp batter meant we didn't feel that heavy feeling you normally get after a chippy tea! Would definitely come back.”

“Had lunch with my wife and 3 year old daughter on a wet day out. The service was good, the view was amazing, the food was great. It was a little on the expensive side, but they are award winning and I have to admit, it was a really nice lunch. Would certainly recommend!”
