About Cross Kitchen Emsworth
Cross Kitchen Emsworth is a cafe on St Peter's Square in Emsworth, and breakfast is part of its menu. The dishes include bagels, huevos rancheros and a quiche of the day, so a visitor has three distinct breakfast items to choose from before looking at anything else. The quiche changes with the day rather than staying fixed, while the bagels and huevos rancheros are named as separate dishes. Dogs are welcome, which means customers can bring their own dogs when they visit the cafe.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast draws the praise, with reviewers singling out the rancheros, bagels with salmon or avocado and halloumi, and a sourdough Ruben with soup, the last two called beautifully presented. One notes the food took a while but was spot on. Criticism centres on service: a dog owner outside was passed over for a later table, and another reviewer got toast without jam, rock-solid butter and a cold coffee.

“Popped into the Cross Kitchen today for a coffee. Sat outside with our dog and waited to be served and table to be cleared. A member of staff did not come out to serve us but did served another table outside despite the couple arriving after us. The member of staff served the drinks for the other table and then started to clear other tables outside despite us clearly waiting to be served and our table to be cleared. We ended up leaving and taking our custom elsewhere. Would recommend using other cafes before attempting this one! Not very good service at all”

“I was very disappointed with our experience here. When our drinks arrived, I asked for sweetener and was told it was in a pot on the table. However, the pot contained sugar, not sweetener. As a diabetic, I was unable to use it. I was charged £6.50 for two very thin slices of toast cut from a loaf. The butter provided was rock solid and impossible to spread, so I had to ask for an alternative. The toast was also advertised as coming with jam, but no jam was provided, and I had to ask for the missing item. Our hot drinks arrived well before the food, meaning that by the time the toast was served, my coffee had gone cold. In total, I paid £10 for a cold, bitter coffee and two very thin slices of toast, with basic items missing or unsuitable when served. The quality of the food, service and overall experience did not justify the price. I left feeling thoroughly disappointed and, frankly, that I had been overcharged for what was provided. I will not be returning.”

“Cool cafe in what appears to be a converted former religious building. Quick service and friendly welcoming staff.”
