Quick info
About Dumpling Queen Edinburgh
Dumpling Queen Edinburgh is a restaurant at 52 Blackfriars St in Edinburgh, built around a Hong Kong-style dim sum menu that includes haggis fried dumplings. Chicken dumplings and soup dumplings sit alongside them, so the dumpling list covers more than one filling. Noodle dishes include wonton noodle soup and Spicy and Sour Noodles, and vegan options such as vegan spring rolls are on the menu. The dining room is small, with about 8 tables set close together. A wait for a table is common at busy times, especially at peak lunch, and some guests queue outside. Dishes are made to order, and a Gochujang rice bowl gives the menu a rice option beyond the dumplings and noodles.

Customer Review Summary
The main trade-off is space and waiting. The restaurant is tiny, with only eight tables according to one reviewer, and tables sit so close that diners feel they share with neighbours. Several mention queuing outside at busy lunch times, and one adds that the dumplings alone may not satisfy a big appetite. One reviewer found the chicken in their noodles too little and the wonton broth sweeter than expected. One late arrival waiting in freezing rain was let inside to wait.

“Such an amazing spot in Edinburgh. It’s fairly small, so you may have to wait a bit for a table but it’s worth it. Everything was amazing, we had the spicy wontons, Char Sui Bao Buns, Wonton Soup and Soup couplings. All were amazing, and I’d eat there again and again if I could.”

“Had an excellent lunch at Dumpling Queen! Noodles and dumpling dishes were delicious, though the won ton broth a bit sweeter than I’m used to. We waited around 10 minutes for a table and the restaurant was constantly busy, despite this the service was excellent with one person working at the front. Would definitely recommend for those craving some Chinese dishes in Edinburgh!”

“This place is so good. We had their Dumplings and Wonton Noodle Soup. Don't leave without trying the Ice Black Sugar Melon Tea! It's the best tea I've ever had. Everything was fresh and so flavorful ~ can't wait to go back!”

“The food here was pretty decent, though it could have been nicer. The chicken added could have been left out, it was so little. I have certainly had more delicious noodles elsewhere, but everyone has different tastes. The space itself is tiny, and you are practically sharing a table with your neighbours because the seating is so close. If you are looking for a spicy noodle option, it is a good choice.”

“Amazing tiny resraurant. Only 8 tables but the food was perfect. Vegan options were plenty. The nan serving was great. Well worth queing outside and very big noodle soup portions.”
