About The Huxley
The Huxley is a restaurant on Rutland St in Edinburgh, right off Princes Street at a junction by the airport tram line. It is open daily and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening drinks. Big front windows give the window seats views out. The food menu pairs small plates with larger dishes such as an Angus burger, fish and chips and a brisket sandwich. At the bar, the team pours local draught beers, wines from around the world and experimental cocktails. Sport plays on screens, and the venue is dog-friendly. Under 18s are welcome until 10pm when they are eating. Walk-ins are accepted, and drinks-only bookings are taken. Parties of 9 or more contact the restaurant directly to book.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast draws the most praise at The Huxley, with reviewers pointing to the hash, the haggis and black pudding croissant, and eggs, plus a wonderful cappuccino. Close behind are dinner dishes: the brisket sandwich, fish and chips, Angus burger and tacos are called very good, and one diner calls the corn dip unlike anything they had tried and the pavlova a must get. Reviewers describe friendly staff, comfortable seating, a relaxed, calm atmosphere with good music, and a welcome for a dog. Complaints are specific. One reviewer waited 15-20 minutes for eggs and was charged a service fee they were not told about, another notes everything is cooked in one fryer so a family member with a fish allergy could not have fried food, and servers wrote nothing down and got one item wrong. One reviewer found the food bland and reports that her husband had food poisoning after the 28 day steak. Another says the staff checked a full allergen chart for a mustard allergy and flagged dishes to avoid.

“We had a wonderful meal here with cameron as our server. Food was awesome, Cameron had a full chart of allergins with my mustard allergy. I wanted a couple of food options that I found out.Thankfully, I didn't get because they have mustard in them and Cameron was quick to point that out. So on appetizer, we got the corn dip, and my goodness gracious.I've never had anything like it before. It was delicious and we inhaled it. I would love to have that recipe because it was amazing. My wife got her first fish and chip from there. She said it was better than she had hoped. I got the brisket sandwich and it was spot on great flavor through and through. I would come back here and eat again. My wife's got the dessert. Pavlova...ITS A MUST GET!! All in all lovely place with fantastic service and even better tasting food.”
