About Waterfront Takeaway
On the A903 in Edinburgh, Waterfront Takeaway is a breakfast and fast food spot working on a walk-in basis with no reservations. Orders are placed at the counter, and a queue can build up when things get busy. The menu covers breakfast rolls, a full Scottish breakfast, and smashed avocado on toast, alongside a coffee menu that includes cappuccino. The kitchen can also handle big orders. Outdoor tables extend seating beyond the counter, useful for anyone eating on site, and high chairs are available for families with young children. Free Wi-Fi is on offer for those settling in with a coffee. It opens Monday to Saturday during the day and stays closed on Sundays. Food is also available to go for those eating off site.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the breakfast rolls and the full Scottish breakfast, praising them as freshly prepared, tasty and hearty, with bacon and a smash roll named among the favourites. Close behind is the staff, described again and again as friendly, chatty and welcoming, including the women who cook and serve and who handle big orders without fuss. The coffee gets repeated mentions too, with one reviewer calling a cappuccino excellent and another stopping in for a coffee on a cycle home. Several point to good value for the price, and a few mention sitting at the outdoor tables. Regulars and local workers, including people from nearby construction sites, are described as steady customers. The one reservation is that it is a roadside cafe, which one reviewer calls take it or leave it, and another warns it is not a conveyor belt place, so quick turnarounds should not be expected. Even so, other reviewers describe a short wait with a lineup, and one reviewer who has come for years says they would not change a thing.

“Best breakfast in Edinburgh. Delicious, freshly prepared, hearty, lovely, wide selection of options, and phenomenal value for money. Thank you so much to the staff for being so lovely and nice despite me being a bit slow about my food choice! I’ve been to many places in Edinburgh - this is a must try and I believe worth a detour from the city centre! It is not a “conveyor belt” high street place, so don’t expect super fast turnarounds - but I would come here every day if I was a local! (P.S. Sorry for a bitten off piece of bacon - I couldn’t help starting to munch before taking a photo!!)”
