About Frenchies

On Bethcar St in Ebbw Vale, Frenchies serves as a takeaway restaurant working from a daytime-only schedule, open Wednesday to Sunday and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The Big Daddy Breakfast anchors the regular menu, with sausages, fried items, and eggs. Baguettes are made up to order rather than pre-prepared. On Sundays the usual menu steps aside for a roast dinner of beef or pork with boiled and roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, peas, carrots, cabbage, and cauliflower cheese, available for collection like the rest of the menu. There is no seating for booking, and Frenchies runs on a walk-in basis, though orders can also be phoned in ahead so the food is ready on arrival. This phone-ahead option suits anyone picking up on a schedule, whether for a weekday breakfast or the Sunday roast.

Customer Review Summary

Sunday lunch is the clear draw here, with reviewers repeatedly praising the beef dinners, the pork that one described as tender, and sides like roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and cauliflower cheese, all served in portions several call huge. Close behind, the cheese and ham salad baguette and the breakfast get singled out as fresh and generously filled. Staff are described multiple times as friendly, and the value comes up often, with one reviewer noting four beef dinners at £13.50 each came with plenty of everything. One reviewer takes issue with the "French restaurant" framing, arguing the fried breakfast fare served doesn't reflect French cuisine and feels misleading, though this sits apart from the food quality itself, which other reviewers don't fault. Regulars mention returning specifically for the Sunday roast during the winter months.

Frenchies offer a food service which is second to none, everything they offer is always super fresh and so tasty, baguettes made up as you ask for, all kinds of meals can be bought, with such a range of lovely meals, snacks and drinks, you can find all you need for your meal right there at Frenchies.

Please people, just know this restaurant is absolutely not a French restaurant. Our restaurants in France aren't giving fried food but really more sophisticate food. We don't eat saucages, fried things and eggs for breakfast for example. This is an North American breakfast (US and Canada, as Québec), not french. To the owner of this, can you respect my country and don't say you are a french restaurant ? We don't eat all of this in France, for sure. It's just a question of respect. I'm not gonna to serve american food in France and pretend it's British. Because I respect British culture. Don't use french reputation to make money. Use your reputation. I'm not saying your food is bad, but you are lying to people and I really don't appreciate that. Thanks.

Always been lovely food, today I had a cheese and ham salad baguette and it was beautiful! Quality thick butchers ham, what seemed like a full bag of grated cheese and planty of salad so it was all in proportion, filled me for most of the day! Definitely be going more often.

Phoned 11.30 to ask if it was too later to order a Sunday lunch.... no problem at all ... I ordered 4 beef dinners and picked up at 12.30 .... At £13.50 each it was well worth the money, there was plenty of everything...the beef just melted in the mouth and the gravy was beautiful too...with boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, peas, carrots, cabbage and cauliflower cheese all cooked to perfection! I will definitely be back again. One happy and stuffed customer 😊

How this listing is sourced

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Every listing is re-checked on a recurring crawl, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
