About Portico Lounge
Portico Lounge is a brunch restaurant at 5 Frogmore St in Abergavenny, open daily and serving all day breakfast. Just inside the front door, a free cereal stand lets children help themselves, and board games are kept for playing at the table. The menu adds toasties and burgers to the breakfast offering, and it includes a gluten free menu alongside vegan options. Orders go through an app or QR code from the table, so there is no need to go up to the bar. The building has two floors, with seating upstairs, artwork throughout and candlelight at the tables. Dogs are welcome in the downstairs area, and treats are available for them.

Customer Review Summary
Dog-friendly downstairs seating is the most repeated draw, with one regular describing staff who bring the dog a bowl of water, making it a post-dog-walk pint stop. Close behind are friendly service and ordering from the table by app or QR code, which several call quick and simple. Reviewers also single out the all day breakfast, a full gluten free menu, vegan options, a free cereal stand for kids, and artwork across two floors that gives a quirky feel. The toasties, burgers and sweet potato fries earn praise, and the local beer is called particularly good, though one found the smash burger ok but unremarkable. Several describe the food as decent for a chain rather than outstanding. One reviewer felt the tapas portions were small for the spend, barely enough for two. Others mention drinks arriving later than food, menus hard to read by candlelight, and poor disabled access to the main doors. One reviewer recalls a server fetching extra bread when the sides ran out.

“Portico Lounge is a lovely restaurant, definitely one of the best of the Lounges restaurants. The decor here is typical Lounges, with great artwork and furniture. The upstairs seating is particularly nice. The food and drink here was amazing! The only downside was it took some to get our drinks (longer than our food) but it was well worth the wait.”

“We lov Portico loung. The food is decent for a chain restaurant, but the staff, atmosphere, and location make it worth a regular visit. We can always get a table, it's easy to order by QR code from indoors or outside. We also like that our dog can come in with us. Staff are always super friendly and bring the dog a bowl of water which makes it the perfect stop for a post-dog-walk pint!”

“The smash burger was ok but not amazing. Sweet potato fries were good. Service great.”

“The place is nice, and the food was tasty. The local beer was particularly good. My only criticism is that the tapas portions could be a bit more generous for the price. We spent around £50, and the food was barely enough for two people. While the quality was good, I felt the overall value for money could be better, as there are other places where you get more for a similar price.”

“Second visit and really enjoyed it again. Food and drinks are very good. So far tried the different toasties and burgers, both excellent. Service was excellent and one of the staff even got us more bread to go with our sides when we ran out. Like the ordering from your table via app, makes it quick and simple.”
