Customer Review Summary
Pasta draws the most praise, from the spaghetti with seafood and tomato sauce, with big prawns and a sauce diners soak up with the free bread, to the tagliatelle with ham, the penne della festa with tender strips and a flavourful sauce, and the cannelloni spinaci e ricotta. Close behind are the prosciutto and melon, the Tricolore salad, the calves liver with sage, and zucchini frites described as light and crisp. Desserts get mentions too, including tiramisu and an affogato served with the coffee in a Moka pot. Reviewers call the food full of flavour and beautifully presented, and describe friendly, attentive staff who never rush the table. One vegetarian diner found the options well rounded. On the downside, one reviewer describes a man working the floor who hovered, seemed rude and arrogant, and made a comment in Italian assuming they would not understand, and another found the veal nothing special. Several finish the evening with a limoncello the waiters offered after the meal.

“Very nice Italian restaurant. Visited on a Sunday lunch and it was packed! Restaurant had a large selection of the usual pastas and meat. The spaghetti with seafood and tomato sauce was very nice, and big prawns too. The tomato sauce was amazing and good to soak up the (free) bread offered. The tagliatelle with ham was equally as good and good sized portion. Slight disappointment on the veal - nothing bad but nothing amazing either. Was also offered and accepted a shot of limoncelo, nice way to finish off the meal.”

“The food was amazing and we really enjoyed it. We will definitely return next time we are in Eastbourne. A huge thankyou to the chef and all kitchen staff. All of the staff work really hard and are incredibly busy, but they make you feel like you are the only customers in the restaurant. Very professional and very friendly. The whole restaurant is spotless and beautifully decorated with a welcoming atmosphere. Many thanks for a great experience.”

“La Locanda Del Duca was so beautiful recommended by one of our taxi drivers on our first day in Eastbourne and we left it for the last night. It turned out to be an absolutely lovely way to top off a weekend. The ambience invited you to slow down, the music reminded you of Italy and times gone by, the table setting, the service - everything prepared you for a fantastic meal! We opted for the set menu, one of us being vegetarian. The veggie options were well rounded with a Vegan menu available. The prosciutto and melon could have been my entire meal it was so good. The tomatoes on the Tricolore salad were delicious. My Penne della festa had the most tender strips and a flavorful sauce. The Cannelloni spinaci e ricotta looked amazing!! And he loved every bite. If you go for the ice cream try the coffee. The tiramisu looked delicious and my partner ate every last bit. I finished my meal with a macchiato that was so good I wish I had asked what coffee they were using. My partner quite liked the Chianti. The service was friendly and fast moving without rushing. They matched their pace to ours. And to finish the evening they offered us a limoncello. It was nice to be surrounded by a mature mix of people, it made for a lovely date with fabulous food. Highly recommend.”

“We had a lovely meal overall. The food was absolutely outstanding, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The cocktails were also fantastic and definitely worth trying. Our server was friendly, cheerful, and attentive, which made the dining experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, there was one gentleman working who kept hovering around our table. We found him to be rude, arrogant, and unwelcoming, which made us feel uncomfortable throughout the evening. I also speak Italian, and he made a comment in Italian, seemingly assuming I wouldn’t understand him. Hearing that was extremely disappointing and made us feel even more unwelcome. It was a real shame because it took away from what would otherwise have been an excellent experience. The quality of the food and drinks was exceptional, and we’d happily return for those alone. We just hope the customer service is more welcoming and respectful next time”
