Customer Review Summary
The steak pie is the dish reviewers raise most, praised for flaky pastry, succulent beef and rich gravy. Close behind are the haddock and chips and the chicken goujons in crispy batter, with macaroni cheese, bangers and mash, and a piping hot peppercorn chicken also singled out, and a coeliac diner pleased by the gluten free options marked on the menu. Value for money comes up repeatedly, alongside friendly staff. The complaints are specific. A party of ten says they had to shout for a waitress, were never asked about more drinks and found the bar hard to order from, and that reviewer also reports spiders in the toilets. Another describes a chicken roast that was mostly vegetables with one pig in blanket, a kids' meal padded with a small piece of battered wing, and menu items found unavailable only at ordering. One family of seven, booking with three children, was pleasantly surprised by the final bill after the puddings.

“I went for lunch & drinks with friends, 10 of us. Our drinks order was taken quickly but we waited a while to order food, had to shout the waitress. Food was lovely especially the steak pie. After our initial order we were never asked if we would like more drinks, we again had to ask/look for a waitess. We eventually moved to the bar area and it was not easy ordering a drink. Staff definitely need training it was like we were disturbing them. The pub appeared clean but the toilets were full of spiders. I have been a customer in this pub for a lot of years but they definitely need to concentrate on staff training and basic cleaning.”

“Went in for a chicken roast and was very disappointed. The plate was made up of around 95% vegetables, with very little chicken. What chicken was served was sliced extremely thin, and there was only one pig in a blanket. My son's kids' meal was no better. It looked as though they had run out of chicken nuggets and simply added a small piece of battered chicken wing to make up the portion. To make matters worse, we weren't informed that certain menu items were unavailable until we tried to order them. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I had hoped things would improve due to the old owner leaving, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. It felt like a waste of money, and we won't be returning.”

“Atmosphere is welcoming as soon as you cross the threshold of this fine Pub / restaurant. Nice bar with tasty cocktails as Well as ample comfy seats for groups. Food was top notch and had the chance to meet the owner who was brimming with ideas to deliver the highest level of service and food quality. “Wonderful experience. Booked a table for seven, including three children and we were easily accommodated. The food was all excellent, clearly homemade. My wife was impressed by the steak pie she was served, while our teenagers raved about their macaroni cheese and bangers & mash respectively. The puddings were also equally awesome and I was pleasantly surprised by the final bill. True value for money isn't evident in many places these days, but it is found in abundance in this establishment. The service was friendly and helpful. We shall return!”
