Customer Review Summary

Fajitas come up most, with diners praising the mixed fajitas and one repeat visitor listing them beside the chicken Caesar salad and steak frites. Close behind is the warm chocolate chip cookie, called awesome by one reviewer and ordered with ice cream by another. Crispy chicken wings and gluten free haddock and chips also earn praise. Several describe food arriving quickly and hot, and a few single out friendly, attentive servers, with one noting a missed dessert was promptly sorted. The complaints are specific and carry weight. One Sunday roast arrived lukewarm with a cold Yorkshire pudding, tough beef and few vegetables. A longtime customer found mains slow on a quiet night, a dry burger with watery coleslaw, over spiced fajitas, and a salad missing an expected egg. That party never received separate gluten free and dairy free menus, had to ask twice for water, and found the pepper grinders did not work. They felt standards had slipped under new owners and noted the added service charge. One regular advises leaving room for the warm cookie.

“On this occasion it was a bit disappointing. To be fair, my starter was excellent. (Crispy chicken wings in louisiana hot sauce). The server did not provide us with both gluten and dairy free menus, despite three of our party having intolerance to both and the server being made aware of this. When we finally got both we found that there was very little overlap, so you can have dairy free or gluten free, but the choice of both dairy and gluten free was very limited. The mains took forever to come out despite the restaurant being reasonably quiet. My burger was as dry as a bone and the bun was dry and hard and the melted cheese congealed so I suspect they had been sitting on the pass for a while. The accompanying coleslaw was watery and dismal. My daughters fajitas were vastly over spiced. They would have been over spiced for me and i enjoy some seriously spicy food. My girlfriends salad had strange, very woody sliced vegetable in which I couldn't identify (and I'm a head chef with 25 years experience) it also had a ridiculous quantity of capers in which was quite unpleasant. A soft poached or boiled egg was expected (rightly or wrongly) with the salad, but was omitted. when this was enquired about, the server looked at my partner like she was speaking a different language. No attempt was made to either consult the menu or the chef. We never did find out if she was supposed to receive one. The gluten free Haddock and chips was very good to be fair. No sauces or relishes were offered at service and I had to attract the servers attention to request ketchup and mayonnaise, and working salt and pepper grinders as ours were completely non functional. Water was requested for the table but never arrived and the server had to be prompted a second time . We have been semi regular customers at Louis browns over the last decade or so, and this was nowhere near the standard we are used to. To compound this, the prices are going up, and a service charge is included in the bill. I am a generous tipper if the service is good, but on this occasion it was not great. To be fair to the server, she was very young and I suspect she hadn't had sufficient training. But Louis browns has gone downhill since it was taken over by new owners. I'd be in two minds about going back.”

“First time here for the Sunday roast, and what a disappointment for the price. The whole meal was luke warm, apart from the Yorkshire pudding which was cold. The beef was tough. There wasn't much vegetables and just a couple of potatoes.”

“Been in a few times now, and we've been well fed and well looked after each time. Some of our favourites are the mixed fajitas, chicken Caesar salad, steak frites... Leave room for a pudding though - the warm choc chip cookie is awesome.”
  • Darren Watson
“Had a really nice meal at Louie Browns! The menu had a lot of really good options with several affordable options and overall variety. The restaurant was pretty busy with it being mid afternoon on a Saturday so glad to have booked a table but service was pretty quick and staff all lovely. There were a couple of small things missed like one of the desserts didn’t come out but the staff promptly got it all sorted and were very tentative. Personally I got the fajitas and the double chocolate cookie with ice cream and both were really good! As a quick note the toilets were very clean and modern. Would definitely recommend 😄!”
